How did you measure it? I don't have anything longer than my 12" ruler to use...

Stand with your back to a wall, put a book or something else flat on top of your head (use a mirror if it's handy, to be sure you have the book horizontal). Press the edge of the book against the wall and step out from under it. Now you can make a little pencil mark (or put some tape on there) to mark where the under side of the book meets the wall.

Even with the 12” ruler you should be able to measure the height of that mark above the floor, twelve inches at a time.
