This for me as well. Any social liberalism I had within me was purged and cleaned after seeing the vile pulsating wrath of disagreement that liberals have with social issues.
I'm sorry, that sentence seems like it's missing a word, in which way do you disagree with adherents of your formerly hold political beliefs?

Sorry; the missing word is bolded.
I was previously socially left-centre and economically liberal; akin to some sort of a more moderate socialism or communism in terms of social issues.
When I discovered NSG, I saw the amalgamation of liberalism here; so much rampant and unrestricted "progress" degrading the meaning of human restriction and civility in society. It turned me into some sort of conservative anarchist, if that is humanely and politically possible in today's world. It also correlated along with when I was reading a professional annotation of the Lord of the Flies for leisure, which extrapolated on man's savagery and how civilization is ultimately a failure in containing human impulses of degradation.

When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages,
when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling,
that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual...
The notion that science and spirituality are somehow mutually exclusive does a disservice to both."
