It's all just military posturing, but what is always the concern in situations like this is that one side goes too far, and things get out of control. North Korea is out-gunned, and they're usually the aggressor in these conflicts, afaik, which just seems idiotic. They can't afford a war. One of these days the South may very well call their bluff.

They've probably set their own time zone by now so who knows when 8:30 really is in North Korea, if it exists at all. Maybe North Korean days last just 6 hours?

Well as the article notes, that time it wasn't backed up with troop movements.

This one... is. Probably won't happen though.

Speaking of which, they actually have announced plans for their own time zone.

So, it appears that North Korea has "declared war on South Korea", and also warned that "will attack South at 8:30am Saturday".
So NSG, what do you think of this? I personally think it's just him showing his saber, considering that North and South Korea are still at war technically.

Technically, they're still at war, (since there was no peace treaty that was signed in 1953, just a ceasefire agreement.) and like the North Koreans would have the guts to attack an American ally without full support from their Chinese and Russian allies.

Saying that the Norks have an alliance with the Russians and Chinese is saying fire is allied with water because the former doesn't actively set the latter on fire barring extraordinary circumstances.

Putin could use a Korean war to cover up shizzle in the Ukraine.

How may I ask? We're not living in the 19th century, we have many sources of information all of which have many reporters and journalists, just because something bigger is happening doesn't mean it wouldn't get reported on

This is not unusual.

(also reporting troop movements is probably a really bad thing that people don't seem to grasp anymore)

Maybe because of how common it is nowadays, I mean it happens everyday in the Middle East (Eastern Ukraine) and for the past few years in Korea.

Some accounts say that North Korea moved some artillery into the Demilitarised Zone, in order to attack South Korean loudspeaker installations.

violating the DMZ is a bit more provocative than is 'normal', isn't it ?

Well, yes, given near-universal mobile communications and social media, operational security for forces is now much harder to achieve.
This does not mean that people should make it near-impossible to achieve, by telling people that B-2 stealth aircraft, which are strike forces let's face it, are mobilising on a base that can strike Korea during heightened tensions.

Ground mobilisations A, can't be missed and B, are usually meant to be seen. Korea's troop movements will be, above all else, a visible show of force.

Is Seoul a steaming crater?

I never really understood this concept of the North leveling Seoul. Don't they view Seoul as one of their own cities? Why would they wan't to destroy somewhere they considered their capital until like a good couple of decades after the ceasefire?

A South Korean news agency named Yonhap claims that their satellite has spotted NK missiles being moved closer to the border. This has not been confirmed by South Korea or anyone really. I personally think that's just Yonhap trying to get publicity.

Because it's where about 80% of South Koreans live and will be the site of most US/ROK resistance beyond the DMZ. Imagine how many military installations, government offices, reservists are in Seoul or the Seoul area.

One day when North Korea makes another on of these false threats that they won't follow through with, South Korea should attack it and justify it as a 'preemptive strike'. For tha lulz, of course. North Korea still probably won't do anything.
