We have the best punter in the SEC. He should probably get some practice time at kicker now.

Well, to be fair, two of those three field goals Medley missed were from 50+ yards. Not easily makable, especially if they're at an angle. So you can't blame him too much. Should probably blame Butch Jones for sending him out there when he had already missed twice.

The initial field goal was a groaner, though. If I'm correct, the game puts Medley under 60% on the year.

I do agree - should have just gone for it instead of trying for those kinds of field goals.

Excuse me, but field goal kickers are generally bad in college football. Unless if you count Quinn Nordin, who will go to Penn State next year and is regarded as the best kicker in high school.
In solidarity with Ukraine, I will be censoring the letters Z and V from my signature. This is -ery much so a big change, but it should be a -ery positi-e one. -olodymyr -elensky and A-o- continue to fight for Ukraine while the Russians are still trying to e-entually make their way to Kharki-, -apori-h-hia, and Kry-yi Rih, but that will take time as they are concentrated in areas like Bakhmut, -uledar, and other areas in Donetsk. We will see Shakhtar play in the Europa League but Dynamo Kyi- already got eliminated. Shakhtar managed to play well against Florentino Pere-'s Real Madrid who feature superstars like -inicius, Ben-ema, Car-ajal, and -al-erde. Some prominent Ukrainian players that got big transfers elsewhere include Oleksander -inchenko, Illya -abarnyi, and Mykhailo Mudryk.

...and Aaron Medley was, as I recall, the number one kicker recruit in the nation.

Yes, kicking from the hashes is awful. I'm almost in favor of changing the rules at least for kickers regarding hashmarks and placement of the ball. Most kickers at the collegiate level aren't great - but this is a former SEC powerhouse's kicker. This isn't Eastern Michigan's or even Kansas' kicker we're talking about. Medley was a very high ranked kicker coming in who has a penchant for inconsistency.

Just looking at these stats, too, kickers have improved drastically since the increasing advent of specialized kicking coaches. There's even less of an excuse for how bad he is.

EDIT: Medley is 52.9% on the year. For fuck's sake.

Yes I am mad because if there's going to be a team that loses because of their kicker, it's going to be Alabama. STOP TAKING OUR PLACE AS THE TEAM WITH THE WORST KICKER.

I hope you know our kicker is a Polish orphan. So, you're making fun of an orphan. I hope you feel terrible.

But it's obvious we have gorrible kickers. Griffith can't even hit from 23. He's fucking terrible. The last kicker I can remember that was actually worth a damn was Jamie Christensen. He wasn't the best, but he was at least consistent. I blame Bobby Williams, the Special Teams coach. Fuck that guy. I hope he burns in hell for all eternity.

The easiest way to get around that for the LSU game is to score touchdowns instead of field goals. But every time we get inside scoring range, Joey fucks up the playcalling. So it's anyone's guess how that goes.

Verne Lundquist confirmed to write for AP Poll.

I agree. They obviously didn't watch the fucking game - which is the problem with the entire poll. It's full of hack writers who are no more unbiased than you or I, but who don't actually watch a lot of the games - and their decisions actually carry great weight about things. They just see "ALABAMA", "7-1", "IT WERE RIVALRY GAME". Already this year you have particularly grating examples with Pitt, California, and Florida.

And the same thing about hacks who have far too much influence on college football goes for the playoff committee - does fucking Pat Haden really need to be there? Really? Maybe, you know... hire people who aren't actively administrating an program or team to make decisions on these kinds of things.

EDIT: nvm am dumb

seem to pull them from Australia, and Australian Rules football is all

and now it's time for a new post segment here in the greatest armchair sports analysis thread on NS

Byth's Shitty Random Thoughts On Various Goings On (And Such)

-Kansas is going winless this season and Beaty stands a good chance of being fired... seeing as how he was a reach to begin with. smh jayhawks. I'm thinking that only New Mexico State is worse at this point, but that's not really news. Also, Kansas being so damn bad makes me want another NCAA Football game. Rebuilding them would be fun as hell.

-Hawaii will look much better once Norm Chow's laughable excuse for an offense is scrubbed from the CFB landscape. Protip, Warriors: drop the "rainbow" moniker, drop the shitty uniforms, and get June Jones out of retirement to at least save the football team. Hawaii cannot afford to botch this next hire, regardless... quite literally. Oh, yeah, and there's this. #JuneWouldThrow

-UCF going winless would be perfect penance for George O'Leary being a liar and murderer who should have been fired after killing Erick Plancher.

-Keenan Reynolds should be in the Heisman race.

-It's not too late for Georgia Tech to rip off a win streak and finish 8-5. I wouldn't be too shocked.

-Mack Brown will be a serious coaching candidate somewhere this offseason.

Best of luck to Jerry Kill. Good coach, did good things for Minnesota.

lol JT Barrett

Pat Haden's finally stepping down from the playoff committee.

Golson, Cook, and three other starters out for FSU tonight. I'm calling for a Syracuse win here.

That son of a bitch George O'Leary is finally gone from UCF. Wonder what skeletons will come out of the closet in the next couple of years, because it's already come out that he wanted to retire one game into the season last year. Truly America's most immoral coach. Very, very glad he's done.

dat Holgorsen-Boykin high five doe. lol

USC got a decent win but we didn't play Ronald Jones enough... The game could have very easily been blown by Justin Davis and Tre Madden because of the staff wanting to play more experienced guys who can't pick up first downs.
Here lies a bad OP.

No, Richt just fucked up. People that constantly call for his head finally have some real ammunition after tonight's game. Bauta was abysmal and he still wasn't taken out after the first half. Meanwhile, Lambert was 24/25 in a game this year. Seriously, what the fuck.

Whooooooooooa. Michigan JUUUUUST survived on 10 inch thin ice to win 29-26! Really hanging on to a thread one inch wide.
