hmmm, i'm pretty sure that if the holocaust never would have happened there would be several million more jews and gypsies roaming around europe than there are right now, due to the descandants of the people that were kiled and thats like what 2 generations at least since the end of WWII. holocaust denial really pisses me off its like "hey lets be a bunch of ignorant idiotic assholes and just try to piss people off and ignore the events that happened during the largest war to ever grace the planet earth".

The law, in my opinion, ought to protect your right to be a dumbass.

For example, if I choose to believe WWII never happened because Albert Einstein went back in time and assassinated Adolf Hitler, then that's my decision, no matter how idiotic it is to believe that.

Which was my point in the first place. Why?

At at a guess, I'd say for two reasons. 1, most regimes manage to hide what they've done for longer as opposed to have it exposed in an incredibly dramatic fashion after the largest war the world has ever seen. 2, most similar events were nowhere near the scale of the holocaust. it wasn't even the largest, but the few that came close were better hidden. Seeing as the holocaust is so famous, so are its deniers.

Which is why I oppose the black-balling of Holocaust deniers. Actually, no one so much denies the Holocaust as they deny it killed so many Jews - no one cares about any of the rest of the victims. And I am quite tired of such special treatment for a specific peoples.

Oh, I'm not saying its right that they receive more press. They shouldn't, but they still do. And you're right about the denials being more about the scale rather than the event. As for why the Jews receive the most press, I would guess because they were by far the largest group. Again, not saying its right, but saying it is.

And one more think- recognition of genocide by its "author" is rare case- Turkey do not recognize Armenian genocide, Russia- genocides in USSR, Poland- AK genocide etc., etc., so its hardly suprise to see that and this one is not redognized 100%

Another thing- hardly Holocaust Denial is worth all fuss. Other pseudohistory tipes is hardly a problem to anyone. For egzample- how many of you ( whose who are not from Russia, Ukraine or nearby ) ever heard name Anatoly Timofeevich Fomenko? Major part of fame Holocaust denial gets came from Wiesenthal Center and similar. They make scandal from every marginal, bringing them fame in return ( and ither international recognition, like in Iran )
