Anyone have any ideas on the Best Military of all time?
I had a discussion with some people in my region awhile ago, and we all couldn't decide on one army that was the greatest. They all had their own triumphs that were amazing and battles that stunned everyone. There were so many options, but we came to a consensus on the best ones of all time. We decided that the best were;
Army under King Carolus the XII of Sweden: Alone, the Swedish Army during the 17th and 18th Century took over Denmark, Lithuania, and almost Russia, until they were finally exhausted and were forced to retreat. They won massive victories, often against forces almost 4x their own size.
Nazi Wehrmacht: This one is obvious, they took over most of Europe by 1941, and almost all of Russia. The only thing that stopped them was the Americans joining the war. They were one of our top 3 best armies ever.
American Army: This one is also obvious, the American Army in the 20th and 21st Centuries is an extremely formidable force that continues to flex its muscles on a global scale, from World War One, all the way to today in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Roman Army under Julius Caesar: The Roman Army conquered much, but eventually grew weary of Julius Caesar's influence and power, so much so that they were going to remove him from power. This caused a full civil war, which ended up with Julius Caesar's forces coming out on top, creating a massive empire that stretched from the Middle East to the Cliffs of Dover.
Red Army: The Red Army was on the point of Defeat against the might of Nazi Germany, but came back from the brink to almost single handedly win World War Two. At their highest point, The Red Army had the most soldiers ever in a fighting force, at over 16,000,000 Men, Women, and Children.
