wait is this the city or the state you are talking about?

And honestly I am tired of Texas(don't tell the Texans until I am safely out of the state) so if I end up at a regional law firm I would rather have a place like New York.

Bah. Move to the Ol' North State. Our universities are better. And overall a much nicer place to live than NY.

Ol' North State? :eyebrow:

North Carolina?

I don't think so. Maybe he means Mass?
NC definitely doesn't have better schools than we do...

EDIT: oh, then what schools do you have that are better than say, Cornell?

Oh don't mind me I'm just comparing dicks with other people trying to support their states. :)

Public schools I'll grant you but our Universities are exceptional.

I'd like to see the comparison, really. I only know a bit about what the Uni's are like for fields that are related to mine, and I can say that NC State is ranked about equally to the SUNY schools, which don't really come close to Cornell in many things (although my concrete canoe team whipped theirs :) ).

NC is nice, but its also a bit too warm for my tastes.

God forbid it be cold. Snow would probably paralyze us. Speaking of which the south will probably self destruct what with all the snow coming through.
Oh and while State has my favorite football team they are not really a good representation of our top universities.

As for what state has the best universities, you can all rest assured that you pale in comparison to Massachusetts.

Only California has more, but MA has more per capita by far.

But they have a shortage of native Americans that is really helping me in the admissions process.
Columbia law school currently has 4 native Americans, and only 1 native American male.
out of like 1200 total.
Also Columbia is making a push to enroll veterans, which they made a big deal post WWII, so this is within the normal realm of the university.

No, but it seems like most public schools do not give unrequested fee waivers.
As the only unrequested fee waiver I got from a public law school was from Oklahoma university, and that was because I struck up a conversation with the dean at a star bucks not realizing he was the dean of a law school.

NYU is a private school, but it is true public school won't give fee waivers unless you show that you are to power to afford one or sometimes a veteran.

Whats Ithaca like ?

I <3 U for mentioning Ithaca

but as a resident of Ithaca i must say it's great.

Good Local Economy. Lots of fair trade organics avalible. Gimmie Coffee's here. Ithaca Bakery/CTB makes the best bagels(in town). Have a indie weekly (Ithaca Times), Local Currency. Did I mention it's like a small big city.

Imagine NYC but smaller. Thats Ithaca in a nutshell. If you like Liberal Politics, and a Small Town which wants to be much bigger. Than youd love it.
Economic Left/Right: -9.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -9.00
OCCUPY ALL STREETS, EVERYWHERE (Occupy Ithaca)

I have made the following progression in my beliefs
American Liberal -> Social Democrat -> Right Libertarian -> Democratic Socialist -> Trotskyist -> Eco-Socialist -> Eco-Communist -> Cooperativist

I am a libertarian so I do not ever have a home among the conservative liberal divide of the country.
On the same token I can get along with both pretty well. Talk about gay rights and such with the liberals and talk about economics with the conservatives.

I've been twice, the first I was in a crappy part of Brooklyn, good bagels, had fun while my dad's truck was being loaded...

The second, Im not sure what part I was in, just that I was in the city, me and my friend were lost trying to make our way to Connecticut, and noone spoke english, they still spoke with clicks, and you couldnt see much of anything cause it was dark, and there were rail lines going overhead...

Second time kind of sucked, :lol2:

It'd probably help, tbh, although you'd get along fine either way. You still have Mexicans, and random other people (like eastern Europeans, and apparently people who speak with clicks, although I didn't meet any of the later). In all the time I was there I only heard 4-5 people with the stereotypical NYC accent, and the pizza place was run by Albanians.

Conversely we hate gays. Although the statist part is pretty accurate, one of the reasons I don't like it there.

You'll be fine with just English, even in the various Lower East side neighborhoods (Chinatown, etc).

You should probably brush up on some of your Yiddish, however. A lot of it has worked its way into common speech in the New York City area (schlep, schmear, schmaltz, schmooze, and schmuck are the big ones)
