And the statue looks lovely again today.
The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

The most fundamental problem of politics is not the control of wickedness but the limitation of righteousness.

Having a father that spends his days monologuing his thoughts out loud ad nauseum can really be a trial for one's patience.

Now that I spend a fair amount of time in my own place, where it's quiet, it's harder to ignore it as background noise.
