Or, you could make sure the person who wants to harm them doesn't have the means to? Instead of 'giving a good guy a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun', make sure the bad guy never gets a gun?

No, citizens should have the right to buy rifles and shotguns. I even own those guns.

I didn't know guns were the only way to protect yourself from harm. Thanks for the update.

Black markets are a thing.

Black markets will always be a thing, but at least getting one of the black market is harder than just walking into to a shop and buying a gun.

Yeah, but it ain't going to stop the criminals from using them. We'll be using knives while the criminals steal away the guns.

If we never made any laws because people would do things illegally, we'd have no laws.

Not really as long as you know people and know what you're doing. I may not be down with all the shit I used to be into but as long as I have a few thousand dollars I'd still be able to get a full auto AR-15 with no serial numbers easily.

Even if we somehow removed all guns from American society they'd still come across the border from Mexico. It would just be opening a new massive market.

Well obviously, but trying to use that as an argument against gun control is just stupid.

I don't own a gun. I have never handled a 'real gun', only a air rifle in a controlled environment, and I have never needed a gun to defend myself. And, for that matter, never need to defend myself at all really.
