So jobs are a form of blackmail? I'm sure employers will be glad to hear that they shouldn't pay their workers anything because it's "blackmail".

If a typical capitalist economy amounts to economic blackmail, would porn be okie dokie in a nation with Basic Income?

There's something to be said work-or-starve tainting the work system with an undercurrent of coercion, where it doesn't matter that no one in particular is holding the gun if the consequence for disobedience is death... but that same argument also applies to burger flippers and everyone else that's low on the skills totem pole. I mean, what about the literally life-threateningly dangerous jobs that kill people? If we're going that route, shouldn't we be more offended about that?

Withholding pay or firing someone for not doing their job isn't coercion. By this logic everyone who has ever been fired for not doing their job has been coerced.

Huh, here I was thinking that when a couple of my friends and I expressed interest in filming videos and starting a porn site, we were just talking about having some fun and getting paid for it. I didn't realize that we were all oppressing each other. Silly me believing that some people can actually want to get paid to act out sexual fantasies on camera.

Pornography between two (or more, or less) consenting adults should be legal period, there is no reason to ban it outside of "moral decency," which is way too subjective and usually way too deriving from religious doctrine to actually be taken seriously.

I still think CP should be illegal, as well as actual rape-porn (e.g. not the kind where its acted out for a fantasy, but a showing of legit rape). And I still think some minor regulation is needed as with any other industry to ensure the porno employees get their basic worker rights.

At certain extent, that could be still viewed as a form of economical coercion enforced by the society on you and your friends: you need to turn sex in money.
But, obiousvly, that isn't coercion by you on your friends or viceversa.
Still, the example clearly shows the strong ties between pornography and prostitution: people who would buy such movies would be purchasers of sex acts recorded for the mere purpose of making money, not exactly like a purchaser of women's bodies like in prostitution, but still worrying.

I see "Anarchist" in your signature, and frankly I find it quite weird, given the fact you're just admitting to wondering about starting a little porn industry.

I think the argument goes that people who enter the porn industry (and prostitution) tend to be in a state of financial insecurity when they do so. So that means coercion. Then there is the fact that they have to perform in order to get money. Which means coercion. All of it means it is all rape.

And those who are poor who get other jobs are in the same sense of financial insecurity when they do so. Similarly those in manual labor jobs have to perform to get money (kinda what a job is...) so still not seeing it.

You should also note that I'm quite moderate debating these things: I rarely use the words "pornography is always rape" that is used by many other Radical Feminists. I don't think that being coerced into pornography is always the same thing as being raped. I think that most times it's so, but not always. In example the situation presented by Threlizdun it's clearly not rape, not at all. Still, there's coercion.

It is the same coercion that exists for any person who does not have a lot of money. We do not call needing a job to make money coercion when it comes to jobs like construction, I fail to see why we should for prostitution.

People in porn do not consent to all sex acts and can revoke consent as well. The same civil statues apply. Being employed in porn or sex work doesn't mean you automatically consent to all sex.

Exactly, it's why you don't see pornstars(regardless of gender) in every genre of porn.

It's also why at times it can be a big deal for when big name pornstars do their first X type of sex act (usually bum bum).

They consent to having sex on screen and in return expect money. That's no different from people in the military consenting to being put in harm's way and in return expect money.
