I've always been confused by this, but how is acting in porn (payed sex) legal in places where prostitution (payed sex) is illegal?

Porn is not what causes sex crime. Porn in of itself is simply the explicit showing of sexual acts. What causes sex crime is a stance of viewing women as objects to be used, and it's one thing to say that our current form of porn demeans women, it's quite another to say that all porn demeans women. When ads and culture view women only as use-objects (only valuable for movies insofar pretty, etc) then this creates certain fantasies that have their extension in porn. (Supply and demand)

Blocking porn merely makes men unable to vent their fantasies, which will make them even more frustrated. Sex crime will probably rise if you ban it.

Do I say that 'objectified' fantasies would disappear in a different culture? No. Just like people have murderous fantasies in a culture that isn't murderous (for this, we have GTA, and guess what? We rarely kill one another in the West, and rarely feel the need to anymore), porn is a good vent.

What we should do is center porn more on women, on their experience. Porn's biggest crime is refusing women orgasms and a point of view. Oh, and give subsidies and legal protection to porn stars, if we're thinking in a capitalist framework.
