Trinidad bottled that at least twice. Panama were the best team across the 120 minutes, and they should the ones going through. Justice all round.

We occasionally get a few US sports games. The occasional baseball on BT Sport, NASCAR on Eurosport, and the Indycar support races on Motors TV.

NASCAR is pretty popular in the Midwest and South, but despite that it's viewed as a redneck rural sport by most people in large urban centers.

I think that the Russian leagues have a shameful fanbase. Racism and racial abuse is very common there.

Even though I am a big fan of NASCAR, I'll admit it's behind the NBA, MLB, and NFL.

I suspected as much. Not that it really matters, I don't watch sports because of popularity. NASCAR is boring. It's even worse than all the other stock/touring car series. In stuff like V8SC, DTM and WTCC, there's much more excitement. If I wanted to watch cars going round in circles, I'd sit at a roundabout.

The split of the IRL and CART back in 1996 has effectively killed IndyCar. It's bigger in the UK than it is here in the US due to the number of drivers who couldn't land F1 rides.

I'm almost certain that Alexander Rossi will race for Haas next year, but Haas will be nowhere.

I think there's the odd Brit in Indycar. I know Max Chilton races in Indy lights. Also, Champcar

I am not a big motorsport fan, though I should like F1, it's more of an engineering exercise than anything else. Races are fun at a track tuough, smelly and loud.

I just discovered Jules Bianchi was supposed to be racing for Sauber this year, alongside Giedo Van Der Garde. It was probably his last step to a Ferrari drive :(

The level of detail and sensitivity of F1 cars is immense. That a small piece of metal can win you a race is just mad.

Stock car racing is fun.

In person sure, on tv it's all watching paint dry.

Which is why I should like it, but again. Unless in person, I don't watch.

And the American race is all the way down near Austin. They were planning a race in NYC.
