And Michigan is mostly orchards on the west side of the state. Half of the US cherry production and 90% of Navy beans are grown in Michigan.

Is it cold in Michigan?

The further inland one goes, the hotter in summer and colder in winter. Some areas like Port Austin rarely see highs above 25C as the place is surrounded by water in 3 cardinal directions.

The winters are far colder here than the UK. -40 has been seen in spots in valleys or far inland such as Pellston, Vanderbilt, Coldwater (any further south and one's in Indiana), and Grayling.

Damn, that is really cold >_<

It's not common though. I've only seen it twice in my life and those were on consecutive nights in a spell of record cold where Michigan was better compared to the average temperatures in Edmonton or Winnipeg.
