This is the megathread for the 2018-19 NHL season, as well as all things ice hockey-related. Discussion is welcome here by all hockey fans.

Congratulations to the Washington Capitals for winning their first Stanley Cup!

EDIT: Title/Poll: TG me, and I'll try to work it in. :)

I think fussing about a game played on ice in the summer is an odd way to spend your time. Go outside and play!

Hey, the draft's in what, two weeks? That's a pretty exciting time.

It is a pretty strong draft this year, lots of people comparing to '03. I think not quite as deep, but still good.

Oh, '03, they were still snapping up high-quality players in the second/third/fourth round. McDavid is a franchise player, and I hope Chiarelli and McLellan don't waste his talent. The Sabres got stiffed, but they still got Eichel, another franchise player.

The best result would've been McDavid in LA.

I know, I know, slim chance, but the lulz? Oh, man, it would've been through the roof. I guarantee it'd probably rival the playoffs themselves for fan attention.

If that happened I think all fans of the eastern conference would kill themselves. I know Toews said Tampa was their most difficult opponent, but lets be straight, Anaheim would have beat the lightning, and Nashville too.

I remember reading on HFBoards that Oilers fans would saying LA would have essentially been the new dynasty had McDavid gone there. They were saying that the Western Conference might as well dissolve.

It would've been funny to see it happen. You have all these teams' fans begging the hockey gods to give them McDavid, but then they say, "Lo! We shall send McDavid to LA, and Eichel to Arizona," and the lulz would flow to such a marvelous extent, it really would've.

But history took its course. I guess now we have two dynasties.

As for Anaheim, I've been reading Ducks fans saying they wouldn't have been so powerful against a team like Tampa.

And the Preds.....I had a vision this season of Dolly Parton hoisting the Cup in some fashion.

Anaheim was a pretty physical team. They would have had a good chance.

No. Bad Farn, no. Hockey is life.

EDIT: Looking forward to next year's draft where the thought of some of my buds getting drafted is alive and well!

The Ducks-Hawks series had, before and after, always been touted as the real finals, to the point that it was often said whoever won it would most likely win the Cup. So at least that prediction was correct.

The Ducks losing, though, makes it three years in a row that the Ducks have lost after a 3-2 series lead.

I'm surprised you haven't commented yet on Bishop's gaffe against Sharp, being you've been quite fond of him.

Truth be told, I first thought of you when it went down.

I think this is good. MacLean won the Jack Adams a few years ago.

Nelson's not that bad, it was the team in front of him in Edmonton that was bad.

Yeah, the Hawks have been deep in the playoffs a lot and they're in salary cap hell.

Yeah. Boston and Chicago can't afford him, neither can the Flyers. Would Boston even want him back?
*cough* Sequin trade *cough*

Also, Pornhub has reported that they had a 20% increase in traffic from Tampa after they were eliminated.

:palm:

Don't worry, they're still paying DiPietro until the end of time...

Paying him $1.5 million for each of the next fourteen years — as reported in 2013, it would be double the years left on his original 16-year pact with the Islanders.

On a side note, Phil Esposito said, with certainty, that he believes the Bolts will win a cup in the future.

As well, Kimmo Timmonen is slated to be working for the Philadelphia Flyers after his retirement, according to NHL.com.
