How fortunate it is for the first round pick to go to Edmonton, not Toronto.

It's too bad that 1.0% chance (IIRC) didn't kick in and LA got it.

I would've, if only for the sheer lulz. I remember reading on HFBoards that someone said that if LA got McDavid, the West would be essentially their backyard.

And I think Toronto deserved it more than Edmonton did. Then again, no one really deserved it. But if we were to truly measure who did deserve it, then McDavid would be with the Yotes right now.

Well, Columbus just might become the center of the media this season.

You know Smid's been playing for Calgary for a while now...

But yeah, it'd be wise to sell some of their offensive talents off, considering how not even adding Sekera can do a goddamn blip on improving the Oilers defence.

I don't see why adding him would have, he's inconsistent as hell.

I mean, he is the reason the Kings didn't make the playoffs last season. :p

Nah, I would partially blame that on Voynov getting himself suspended, the Mike Richards drama...

Oh yes, Voynov, too. I personally don't think Lucic will help them make the playoffs, either.

70% of the first-rounders in this year's draft were European. I think the trend will see a decline in Canadian players, since European players have great practice habits and such.

One needs to consider that lots of those European players also play in North American leagues, especially the CHL, so Canada still produces great number of talent to certain extent.

Yes, but, ethnically, those players are not Canadian. I think Ganos Lao meant that.

It's not a big deal whether one's birthplace is Canada or not. Where one's drafted from matters more to me, since the draft -1 and -2 seasons matter the most when it comes to one's stocks and draft position, e.g. Nikolaj Ehlers and Timo Meier of Halifax Mooseheads.

And I disagree about great practice habits part as well. That is not the reason I think is behind the decline in Canadian players...

The Ducks lost again.

Goddamn it.

At least the Cats did good, though. Jagr still's got it. 8)

Time to fire Boudreau.

Moves Like Jagr, that is. :p

But who to replace him with?

And yep. In fact, the whole team played well and broke the Stars' win streak.

Not Richards, Nolan, or Eakins. Perhaps, a renowned AHL coach might do. Which ones are available?

Panthers just need a better goaltender. Luongo is not going to lead the team to playoffs.

Well, according to one Cam Cole:

Cam Cole

@rcamcole

Few better guys for us media schmos to deal with than Bruce Boudreau, but his players appear determined to get him fired. Hope he survives.

Where's Emilio Estevez when you need him? Maybe he can save the Ducks one more time. :p

As for the Panthers, you better tell that to Tallon. Would be something if they got through. For all we know, it could be the Old vs the New. Jagr vs Stamkos. :o

Who's Estevez?

I don't think Panthers are getting Stamkos with the assets they have. Panthers are better off getting draft picks or prospects, especially if they have a good chance of growing under Jagr and other veterans.

I think maybe it's just do to a much wider pool. Many of those players are from the CHL. It's not like Canadian players have bad practice habits.

Anyway, glad to see my Canadiens doing so well at the beginning of the season. :D
