New York Rangers all day everyday.
Drexel Burnham Lambert was an American investment bank that was forced into bankruptcy in February 1990 due to its involvement in illegal activities in the junk bond market, driven by Drexel employee Michael Milken. At its height, it was a Bulge Bracket bank, as the fifth-largest investment bank in the United States.

This is the realistic version of that movie, then.

And, with that, I finally get a point. I can feel the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme detensify, though it's just a question of whether or not the Sharks and/or Caps make it 4-3 tonight as well.

He also did Flames: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaYx4FVtS3E
And Jets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4fUvD3JivU

But the one on Smashville's my fave thus far.

I still don't regret introducing Tree to this thread and inadvertently making him the mascot of it.

But in all seriousness, while I'd say that (barring that one scene with the fish in the oven) his Lightning video is my favourite Congrats video for this Stanley Cup playoffs, the Congrats, Preds! one would be my second favourite. Or at the very least, my favourite one that's more regular snark than venomous snark.

Shofercia wrote:Wow, three game 7s coming up, and I'm 0/5. This is new.

I guess it's time to start cracking jokes about shooting the moon :P

Well at least now you're 1/6. It isn't much but at least it's a lot better than shooting the moon. In fact, don't shoot the moon in general, it's just a waste of bullets and you'd end up hitting something else.

I think the moment that Columbus swept Tampa was when thousands, if not millions, of brackets died. On the upside, at least Shof's bracket game goes all tabula rasa at the end of each round with the only thing carrying over being points, compared to those other bracket games where you have to do it all in one go before the tournament itself starts.

If it helps, they'll probably choke in the next round. Not to mention there's still the possibility of our reigning Stanley Cup victors, who also had a legacy of choking in the playoffs until last season, falling in the first round to Carolina.

At this point I just feel sorry for Tavares and Marleau. Wasted their careers with mediocre teams only for said teams to advance without them. Especially considering the Islanders are now the best team in the East barring the Caps

Zero, because I'll lock the entire Islander franchise inside the Barclay Center and burn it to the ground.

I miss Marleau :(

We did at least get him to the Finals once. Not a stellar accomplishment, but it's something.

The origin of the Rangers and Isles blood feud has been lost to time, even the elders are unsure of who drew first blood, but it persists none the less, and I will defend my house.

To be fair, one could argue that a few of those rivalries could also represent the rivalries between the different boroughs, like how both Rangers vs Isles (edited so they're in the right order) and Knicks vs Nets could be classed as "Manhattan vs Brooklyn" and Yankees vs Mets is "Bronx vs Queens". The downside is coming up with an explanation for Jets vs Giants since they both play in the same stadium in NJ but I'm sure there's a higher concentration of one team's fans in one borough than there are the other team's fans in the same borough.

Yeah, I've clearly never thought that one through. But when you live in a country where intracity sports rivalries usually exist for a reason (namely by area, a split very early on or in a few but well-known cases, namely in Scotland and Northern Ireland, religion) you'd try and come up with explanations anyway.

Impaled Nazarene wrote:At this point I just feel sorry for Tavares and Marleau. Wasted their careers with mediocre teams only for said teams to advance without them. Especially considering the Islanders are now the best team in the East barring the Caps

And even so the Caps have a chance of getting knocked out tonight.

Score Updates:

Capitals v Hurricanes (3-2)
Capitals: Shof, Elejamie, Naz, Tarsonis, Polska
Hurricanes: Idzeq

Point Scale:
Idzeq - 5 (Islanders, Blues, Bruins, Stars, Sharks)
Polska - 3 (Islanders, Bruins, Sharks)
Elejamie - 2 (Bruins, Sharks)
Tarsonis - 1 (Avalanche)
Shof - 1 (Bruins)
Naz - 1 (Bruins)

Next Round Picks:

I know that Caps-Canes haven't played yet, but there will be games on the 25th, and so you guys still have to get the bids in before puck drop for the first game on the 25th. Because I'm a nice guy, I'll let you guys pick either Capitals, Hurricanes, or Islanders, and if your team doesn't make it, you will be allowed to change your pick in a later post, before that game's puck drop. Also, points for this round are doubled.

Avalanche - Sharks
Blues - Stars
Blue Jackets - Bruins
Islanders - Caps/Canes
