A damn shame Colorado was eliminated. I would have pushed for an all or nothing if it was Bruins>Avs in 5.

Imma throw my half-mary Bruins and Blues.

At least San Jose winning made me feel better about Ajax choking during that second half and losing on away goals.

I was going to correct you until I realised the unitalicised ones were first round and italicised were second round. Now that would've been embarrasing. Either way, I'm doing a bit better than I expected, especially during that second round, and it looks like it's going to be close, especially since me and Polska aren't far behind Idzeq.

Anyway, Carolina and San Jose to make it through to the Stanley Cup final. Not going to bother going in depth because I'll definitely be wrong but that's what I think will happen.

Whoops, it seems like I forgot someone - so I'll give the poster an extra day to make the picks. Yeah, yeah, I know it'll be after tonight's puck drop, Crimea River :P

Updated standings:

Point Scale:

Idzeq - 10 (Islanders, Blues, Bruins, Stars, Sharks, Canes, Sharks, Blues)
Polska - 7 (Islanders, Bruins, Sharks, Blues, Bruins)
Elejamie - 6 (Bruins, Sharks, Sharks, Blues)
Tarsonis - 5 (Avalanche, Sharks, Canes)
Shof - 5 (Bruins, Sharks, Blues)
Naz - 5 (Bruins, Sharks, Bruins)
Viridus - 4 (No picks first round, Sharks, Canes)

And this comment still stands:
What an interesting round - everyone picked up four points. Next round picks, let's get them in guys! Remember, now it's four points per team. I'm going with Sharks and Canes.

I was rooting for Ajax. Also, initially I didn't have the italics, but then I looked at the post, and it was confusing - so I threw that in there. This round shall be underlined, and the final shall be bold - in more ways than one.

So does everyone here, point leader :P

The Sharks is really the only team I have to root for, as it's a Californian team. Canes are very impressive, they knocked out two teams that I thought could take the Stanley Cup. Blues have the virtue of not being Bruins. So that's my rooting order: Sharks, Canes, Blues, Belch.

Idzeq - 10 pts, Blues & Bruins
Polska - 7 pts, Blues & Canes
Elejamie - 6 pts, Sharks & Canes
Tarsonis - 5 pts, Sharks & Canes
Shof - 5 pts, Sharks & Canes
Naz - 5 pts, Blues & Bruins
Viridus - 4 pts, Sharks & Canes

Sharks (Elejamie, Tarsonis, Shof, Viridus) vs Blues (Idzeq, Polska, Naz)

What better way to celebrate my birthday (as the match took place in the early hours of May 10th where I'm from) than to have the Canes choke in the third period. Are all the teams I'm going to support do that?

Who wasn't? After all, they knocked out two of the best teams in Europe and it could've been an interesting final if they made it through. It probably doesn't help that most of the squad might not be there next season, essentially being European soccer's version of the Blue Jackets.

Anyway, football/soccer asside, thanks for the heads-up and, to everyone, may the best person get the right picks.

Thanks, mate.

And that's good for your guys. In the meanwhile, we're playing our first game on the 11th (which is either today or tomorrow depending on where you are) and we're up against Germany. So it's just a question of how many goals we're going to lose by. I'm going to say four.

Thank you! I don't think that you'll do that badly against Germany. You have Slovakia, Finland, US, and Canada in your group - teams that you're not going to beat. Your goal is to avoid relegation, so you need to make the most out of games against Germany, Denmark, and France.

Can we not have Boston/New England sweep the three most important sports championships in the span of less than a year? I really don't want the Bruins to win the Stanley Cup, I still haven't gotten over the Capitals winning last year, nor the fact that my hate for New England grows ever stronger.

Considering how Boston is going against the 'Canes, Boston will be the team on the Eastern Conference final.
At this rate, the Blues will once again fall agonizingly short of the Promised Land.

My prediction is that the Bruins will haunt the Sharks much like the Leafs are haunted by the KM-135 recording that is Boston. A Boston/NE sweep is on the cards.

Here's hoping Mr. Holland doesn't screw things up like Chia-pet did over in Edmonton.

You're welcome.

Also, we lost 8-0 to Canada and 9-0 to Denmark. I think we're going to be swept in all of our games. Then again, I didn't have that much faith in us so I'm not as disappointed as you'd expect. At least we're doing better than Italy, who have yet to score a goal.

We here in Old England like to apologise for New England and their success. It wasn't our intent but these things just happen.

But in all seriousness there's still the possibility of them either getting overconfident and/or choking, either in the ECF or in the SCF themselves. While I doubt that'll happen, it'll be something to keep an eye out for. Just be glad the Celtics went out in the first round this season.

If that happens, the Blues and Sharks should form a truce and temporary merge into one team (either the Blarks or the Shues). Whoever wins the WCF will get swept anyway, like you said, but in this case they'd both be losers rather than win something that'd end up not mattering.

They haven't swept yet, but if they do, chances are whoever wins WCF will sweep Bruins to keep trend going.
I pray it isn't San Jose. Its just their goal song that irks me. Like, it doesn't fit hockey, thats all

Now I seriously hope the Blues make it to the Promised Land that is the Final.

San Jose isn't sweeping anyone frankly. I fully expect the WCF to go to seven games, and then if the Sharks get in the Finals, it could easily be their 4th 7 game series of the postseason.
