Could this actually happen?

https://www.nhl.com/news/khl-scoring-le ... =306220704

Nikita Gusev could join the Vegas Golden Knights at some point during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, coach Gerard Gallant said of the forward Thursday. "I don't know much about him," Gallant said. "[Golden Knights general manager] George [McPhee] mentioned it today. ... If he joins us, we'll see what's going to happen. Hopefully he does join us and gets some practice time in with us, but I have no idea where that's going."

Vegas trails the San Jose Sharks in the best-of-7 Western Conference First Round with Game 2 on Friday at San Jose. Gusev is the reigning MVP of the Kontinental Hockey League. The 26-year-old left wing has played with SKA St. Petersburg since 2015-16 and this season led the KHL with 82 points (17 goals, 65 assists). SKA was eliminated in the conference finals by CSKA Moscow on Tuesday. TSN reported that Gusev and his representatives were working on his release from SKA; his contract doesn't expire until the end of April. Gusev was a seventh-round pick (No. 202) in the 2012 NHL Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning but has not played in the NHL. Vegas acquired Gusev in a trade with Tampa Bay during the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft in correspondence with the Golden Knights then choosing defenseman Jason Garrison.

That's better. Sure the Leafs won instead of the Bruins but we've still got at least four games left in that series.

-NEWS STORY-

Right up until I read the bit about him being in the Expansion draft, I was going to say that it might not go through what with it being past the trade dealine and all that. But thinking about it, it could work although I'd recommend that Vegas plays him sparingly, maybe on different lines with different people, until they find somewhere where he can really fit.

EDIT (as I didn't want to double post): Here's a live look at the Tampa Bay Lightning if there's anyone interested.

Fortunately, the next two games'll be at home so there's a good chance they'll make it 4-1 or 4-2. Either way, I'm starting to regret some of my picks now.

"The hockey gods show no mercy, amen."

Either way, the inevitable Congrats, Lightning should be interesting to watch, though it's just a question of whether it'll be released after this round or the round after. I doubt they'll make it to the Conference Finals, let alone the Stanley Cup Finals.

You know when Tampa fans burned their jerseys after game one, I thought it was a bad move . Hot headed, rash, and premature. Turns out they were just ahead of the curve. The only way this series gets weirder is if Tampa pulls their head out of their asses and reverse sweeps the Blue Jackets

And I probably should've had the Jackets win in five instead of the Lightning. Should've learnt my lesson from last year.

Here's a fun thing for you to do over the Summer since you live in Tampa (though I don't know if you still live in the city): Stick "choking hazard" labels over anything and everything related to the Lightning.

Just be glad Winni went on a rampage in the second and third periods because otherwise it would've been RIP to them as well.

While I'm hoping for that too, the way things are going I can only imagine a 4-1 or 4-2 series win for Columbus. The Lightning really need to buckle down and start taking this seriously. I'd say the same for the Pens but since they've been a wild card at best team this season, I doubt they'd be able to overcome their deficit and I've got a feeling their play-off appearance streak'll come to an end next season.

I knew Tampa would choke, but I at least thought they would wait until the second round.

Also the Sharks need to pull it together. Just because Tampa is living up to their reputation, doesn't mean you have to also.

There has been no mercy this playoff season. Blowouts left and right. In a few hours we will see if Pittsburgh is done, or if Tampa is the ultimate failure.

Even if they both go out, I'd say that the Pens would be the ultimate failure here. Sure the Lightning were the Presidents Trophy winners but they've been consistently choking the past few playoffs. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, won two Stanley Cups in a row a couple of years ago and had a bit of a rough time last season but fell completely to shit this season.
