Granted, Gritty's got a lot of mass on him, which is why I think he'd win, but still what do you guys think?

You do NOT want to fuck with Gritty.

Especially when it turns out he'll be on the naughty list this year. Either that or he's already been put on it and he's getting revenge for that.Idzequitch wrote:A five game win streak puts the Sharks closer to where they should be in the standings. And yet both teams are still going to choke come playoff time. Both in the second round if they even make it that far. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd love it if the Sharks finally ended their legacy of failure much like the Caps did but I just don't see it happening anytime soon.

The newspaper reported that according to police the mascot -- a man in a foam-beaked hawk costume -- was punched and put into a headlock by an attacker shortly after the Blackhawks' overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets at United Center in Chicago on Saturday night. The video that swept through social media shows the mascot responding by body-slamming the fan to the ground and punching him.

I'd give that mascot a celebratory hockey stick. That was epic. And if it's that same guy in a mascot suit - he'd beat the shit out of Gritty.

He could, though I'd like to point out that the quote you selected kind of made it sound like the mascot lost the fight (when in reality it was the other way around). Not to mention that Gritty would probably hurt his hand on Tommy's beak. But, either way, I still think Gritty would win.
Also, speaking of hockey sticks, Sidney Crosby gave one of his to a fan of a rival team because the guy actually delivered some chirps that he thought was funny. Really.

I guess, though I think the reason why England, Scotland, Wales and both Irelands play separately is due to some sort of grandfather clause. Because, during the early days of soccer and rugby, England and Scotland were the only countries* who would be able to have a full proper international game. And, even though both sports spread throughout the world resulting in national teams in other countries, there wasn't really enough support for a grand, unified official UK team. Sure there are proper unified teams (Team GB Olympic Team for soccer and the British and Irish Lions for rugby [union]) but they only really play on special occasions or, with the latter, a tour every four years. At least, that's what I'm getting from a number of sites.
Besides, even if that wasn't a problem, Quebec doesn't seem to have its own governing body for ice hockey. Though I'm in favour of some sort of commemorative Quebec team that plays friendlies against other teams, since there were separate teams for England and Scotland for a while as well as a Catalonian team that played a few games. I probably wouldn't rule out some sort of series against or tour of some other nation with a Quebec team made up of players born in the province either.
* Don't ask, I don't know either.

I wasn't aware of this grandfather clause.
Equipe nationale du Quebec wrote:Québec does have an hockey federation within Hockey Canada called Hockey Québec. I think the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) doesn't mind if Québec gets a national team but Hockey Québec has to ask the IIHF to compete internationally, with the approval of Hockey Canada (but they probably won't approve it). They still haven't done it but talks about a Team Québec is heating up in here. So I'm here on some internet forums trying to promote a team Québec.
