I also cheer for Edmonton and Detroit. The latter misses the playoffs, but I respect their players and the organization. I'm sure my friend, Outer Sparta, agrees. :)

Im Excited as this year its like all the cards lined up the way it should have last year for them. Im rooting for them to make it to the cup. As long as the Pens dont get the cup ill be fine

The Oilers with McDavid are an impressive machine ill admit . So wait ? the Wings 25 year Stretch is over ?

Pretty much, yes. From the looks of it, the only way for them to keep the streak going is if they win all of their remaining nine games and the Bruins, Lightning, Panthers and Sabres (as well as wild card rivals NY Islanders) lose their last load of games in regulation time. From the sounds of things, it would probably be easier to eat the Sun.

Yes, he was. Apparently, it was Curtis McElhinney in the net.

The rest of the team is on the decline, yeah, but I figure they'll be able to put up a fight again in a few years.

Definitely. In a few years, when the young players reach their prime years, the team would play better against their opponents.
Ryan Miller is a veteran goaltender, but I just don't have faith in him during the postseason. He has a history of letting in soft goals and underachieving in playoff rounds. (e.g. 1st Round with Buffalo, 1st Round with St. Louis, and 1st round in Vancouver, when the Flames defeated them in a series win of 4-2.)

Miller's gone after this year anyway. I'm guessing they'll go Markstrom-Demko in net.

Sadly.

By the way, Nashville beat San Jose 7-2. If this trend continues, San Jose will lose the top spot in the Pacific Division. :p

 Happy for Nashville to get then win. But San Jose needs to work on getting out of its slump.

By the way, anybody else see that demolition of the Blackhawks by the Florida Panthers, 7-0 ?

Edited my quote to fix a typo.

Anyway, he's the Leafs' new backup goalie, apparently.

Yes, although to be fair, they got him on waivers from Columbus, so it's not like they traded away Auston Matthews for an egg and bacon sandwich or anything like that. Plus Jhonas Enroth was apparently doing very badly this season, so the Leafs decided to trade him over to the Ducks for a 7th. If you were wondering what this new guy was doing here instead of the usual guy (sauce).

I'm actually excited to see him play in the big league because of his athelticism and hockey sense.

Very nearly a four-way tie, and the Flames play Anaheim, San Jose, and LA two times each before playoffs start.

Actually, I didn't start following sports until three years or so ago. I credit my interest to becoming hooked after picking up the Sports page of my daily newspaper one day (which I had never really read before - the Sports page, not the newspaper itself). But back to your question. I consider myself a fan of the Predators (but I doubt that many hardcore fans would agree with me, seeing as I've never even been to one of their games). I root for teams that haven't won a championship yet besides the Preds, as well, such as the Blues and the Panthers, provided they aren't playing the Preds.

I have fondness for all three teams you mentioned.

Predators I like because Pekka Rinne, a highly reflexive goaltender, is there. Blues I like, because of their team colour and Jake Allen. Panthers, I like, because of Luongo.

I will pray for the Flames to win against San Jose and L.A. However, as I cheer for the Ducks and Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf, I will cheer for the Flames to get an overtime win or loss(Provides at least a point for the Ducks).

Calgary, as you already know, is a dynamic team with young talent, and, since they newly acquired a veteran goaltender, Brian Elliott, they're bound to contend for the Cup this year. I cringed every time when Vancouver used to outplay the Flames, but now I'm relieved to see the latter outplays the former.

Great minds think alike, eh? All of those you mentioned are good players. I like the Blues because I sympathize with their long run without a title, the Preds because they just seem like a good team, and the Panthers because they play a really good game of hockey (and because I got ticked when the NY Islanders eliminated them last year from the playoffs, so I followed more closely this year in hopes they'd get their revenge in another playoff rematch).

Sure. In the NFL, I don't like the Pats or the Steelers, primarily because they have won so many Super Bowls it's not even funny. I also don't like the Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks, or the Pittsburgh Penguins. Really my main objection is to bandwagoneers and the really winning teams because when someone goes "Oh I like this team" and they only day so after they win another Super Bowl or Stanley Cup it irks me to no end. I support teams that haven't won or haven't won in a while because I sympathize with them. I respect fans who stick with their team win or lose regardless of which team and who don't abandon ship at the slightest sign of difficulty. I still respect the teams I don't like, they've done a good job.

Oh, and in the MLB I'm a Milwaukee Brewers fan. My least favorite MLB team? Either the Giants or the Cardinals. That said, I'll support any team if they win by congratulating them. No sense in being a sore loser. Hope I didn't end up bringing down the wrath of the entire Steelers nation on my head...

As for the Steelers, TET would be a nice place to mention, because people there call The Big Ben, "rapistberger". This season, I'm beginning to cheer for franchise teams that haven't won the Cup like the Blue Jackets and the Wild. Hopefully, both have a chance to go deep into the playoffs. Of course, I cheer for the Blues and Predators as well.

Much as I dislike the Steelers, you gotta have some class. He plays well and I don't find anything productive out of flaming him. But that's just me.

As for the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Minnesota Wild, I truly hope they make a good showing in the playoffs. Hopefully, one day, they'll hoist the Stanley Cup for the first time.

If Anaheim gets a point tonight, they clinch a playoff spot.

If the Oilers win tonight, they (and the Ducks, if they don't get a point) clinch a playoff spot.

If the Flames win tomorrow, they (and the Oilers and the Ducks, regardless of tonight) clinch a playoff spot.

I kinda want LA to somehow, miraculously, beat out San Jose in the playoff race. If LA gets six more points than San Jose does in this final stretch, it would happen.
