It's going to be played.

Same for Germany - Netherlands.

I am at a total loss here.

In the upcoming Olympique Marseille - FC Groningen match the supports of the latter won't be allowed in the stadium because of security reasons (since what happened in Paris).

But I don't get it. If the terror attacks in Paris are the reason, then shouldn't the match be played in an empty stadium instead? It's not like the few hundred supporters of Groningen will make the difference here compared to the ten thousands of Marseille.

Kind of. I can see good reasons to do it, but on the balance of things it's probably not worth the risk of injury (particularly overuse injury). Sucks that there's no way around that. I can't imagine not being able to train... do most of them go to the same couple of schools at least? School football is typically atrocious but if they're playing alongside each other I think it's better than nothing.

That seems like the logical decision, yeah...

Is this a case of away fans aren't allowed into the Stade Velodrome or is it because France closed the borders (though I thought they had reopened them now) ..?
The latter I kind of understand, though I still think it's contrary to the spirit of fairness. The former makes no sense to me at all and I can't see a reason for UEFA to allow it.

...strange.

They're not allowed in the stadium. The decision was made by French police and government. The Dutch article doesn't say much more. And that after the marseille hooligans thrashing half the city of Groningen in the first leg.

Ugh, similar shit as with FC Utrecht - Ajax. Utrecht had the nastiness so the side of the stadium where the problems are has to stay empty. Utrecht city council then bans Ajax fans from coming, and the fans from that side can be in the other parts of the stadium.

As far as I'm aware, they mostly go to two schools. So they get experience together like that - but oddly enough, once we hit on the best positions for everyone it was like they'd been playing together for years.

I don't think I've ever followed the build up to an England games caring so little about the result. I just hope Wembley does the country proud.

An ambulance packed full of explosives was discovered outside the ground, following a smaller package inside the ground which led to the cancellation. I originally thought they were overreacting but it could of been a horrific tragedy had they not.

What's your source on that? On the BBC article, it says no explosives were found.

This which has been posted on my St John Ambulance news feed, but considering its been nearly an hour and no mainstream media outlet is posting it, its looking like a fake. Not a surprise since it's unilad, but they do sometimes beat mainstream media with a few articles.

There were actually German media reports that there was a truck bomb disguised as an emergency vehicle, but the regional minister in Hanover has just said there were no explosives found.

The FC Twente soap continues. Turns out they had some illegal contracts with a third party regarding a few players.

They should be deducted Twente points.

It's not stealing. The joke just part-belongs to a third party.

Please tell me this is in some way related to Schteve McLaren. That would be great.

Also the evidence against Karim Benzema is starting to look a bit damning.

It's more of a board problem, the various trainers these last years have just been figureheads. In the hopes that maybe if a success on the field can be managed, that the various skeletons stay in the closet.

So no, McLaren is reasonably clean.

Looking forward to Man United vs. Leicester. Leicester's ascent to the top position has been a pleasant surprise for me and makes the league somewhat more exciting, but still, as a Man United fan, I fervently hope for a victory for my team (which, by the way, is in second place).

I am happy that Vardy scored and got the record. I think its annoying that Manchester United have managed to score before half- time though and hope Vardy can go and score again (Leicester City for the Premier League Title!!!! :) )

Good on you Bournemouth for staying in that game so long. However, controversial point. Did the referee let play continue too long. There was supposed to be 5 minutes added time, but instead 8:24 was played??? The Bournemouth was also like 7 mins in as well. Should the referee have stopped the game after the Everton goal???
