Nepalese footballers (including the national team's captain) have been arrested over match-fixing charges:
http://in.reuters.com/article/2015/10/1 ... 9T20151015

Unfortunately, we don't really have laws for this kinda thing, so the authorities are going for a charge of "treason."
http://kathmandupost.ekantipur.com/news ... harge.html

While corruption in sport should be stamped out, I'm a bit worried about the legality of charging match-fixers with treason. It seems a bit much and if somehow made to stick, it can set an extreme precedent for the future, with just about any wrongdoer being fair game for the treason charge.

Treason? That seems a little... out of proportion, yeah.

But speaking of fixing, Spiegel is leading with reports that the German football federation bought the 2006 world cup with several million worth of bribes: http://spiegel.de/sport/fussball/a-1057829.html

European Championships qualifying playoffs:
First team listed plays first leg at home

Ukraine v Slovenia
Sweden v Denmark
Bosnia and Herzegovina v Republic of Ireland
Norway v Hungary

A tasty all-northern European tie there as well as the toughest draw Ireland could've got.
Слава Україні!

From group B?

Yeah, Belgium is decent (and a contender for the title in 2016, the way things currently look like). Wales and Bosnia are tricky. Cyprus, Israel are meh. Andorra is not relevant.

Even Vatican City has a national football team.

They aren't members of FIFA and are therefore not relevant to the discussion.

Val, you'll probably get to see San Marino vs Andorra when the Nation's League starts in 2019.

I'm really excited for the Nations League, I think it's an excellent idea and one that should have been implemented years ago.

It would be heinously complicated to have it work in any other way.

FTFY.

But seriously, when Norwich first equalised, I thought it was going to be Man City all over again. Then I left the house at 3-2, and came back to find that, somehow, Newcastle scored another 3 without reply...

We'll still lose to Sunderland.

Oh man... now Villa are definitely one of the three shittiest teams in the Premier League. We'd been kind of relying on Northern Circus FC being... well... you know... circus-y.
