Could someone give me a brief précis as to what makes Klopp so good. So far I've only encountered Liverpool fans who've said 'OMG WE'RE GETTING KLOPP!!!!1!!one' and can't really tell me as to why he's so great, other than that he took Dortmund to the CL final. Like, what allowed him to do that? Is he an exceptional tactician, man-manager, etc? I don't really know because I'm none too versed in German football.

Klopp seems to fit in with the ideology that Rodgers was supposed to install at Liverpool with high press and rutheless counterattacking, but never really did due to poor recruitment and suarez leaving. He's also a top g and really charismatic so maybe that as well

I hope I get an advent calendar for Christmas.

I can use it to count down the days until Sepp Blatter leaves :)

McDonalds is a world wide brand and the World Cup is a world wide event. This gives them massive exposure in all their markets.

I don't know. It just seems odd to me that a fast food chain would sponsor a sport

Eh, coca cola sponsors FIFA too. And coca cola can be used to clean toilets.

Anyway, we will see if he actually does it. It's not like these top EPL clubs are known for a collegiate and supportive environments towards their coaches (except maybe Arsenal, I suppose). And even though Klopp is a fantastic motivator, it's not going to be easy to change the team to something that works - and then build on it, because it's not like the same tricks would still work. My sense is that the EPL is full of clubs owned by people who wouldn't take the time to let a coach implement a vision. And Dortmund was nothing but that, and so Klopp has to think very hard about whether it's really worth all that heartache.

Well, Man U is giving van Gaal quite some leeway in implementing his vision (and mentoring Giggs).

Let's see how long that lasts. Though I suppose the owner or president would yet have to be found who could impose anything on Louis van Gaal...

You know McDonalds has been involved in sport for years right? They have (in the UK at least) a sponsorship scheme for grassroots football where they pay for level one coaching badges and sponsor local youth teams. Been doing it for years.

It's part of their "we're healthy really! This food won't lead your kids to an early grave, honest!" angle. Notice how they do "healthy" alternatives now too? Like wraps and salads and carrot sticks and shit? It's good marketing, tbh.

A few seasons ago, Wrexham under Dean Saunders, they used to stop for a morning breakfast in McDonald's before they hit the road to away games. So yeah it does happen. It's no wonder we never got promoted though.

Do you have anything helpful to add or just that tripe?

I think that Ancelotti is a better coach than Klopp and that's why I said they should try get Ancelotti instead. Just my opinion.

Bit pessimistic if u ask me. I think if we get knocked out of europe early there is no reason as to why we can't make top 2 or even win the thing. possibly at a DM in january and why not? ahah

Meh, I've been supporting Arsenal long enough to know that we'll be out of the running by April.

A solid DM in the mould of Matic would be good, to give Coquelin a couple of years to really mature - I think he's gonna be good - someone to really marshal the defence and provide the grit in midfield. Whilst Walcott has started to impress, a bona fide striker would be nice, although I appreciate Wenger's statement that there weren't any good enough/financially viable strikers around.
