Yes, both Brazil and Uruguay are out of the Copa América Centenario.

And the CBF have sacked Dunga as a result.

In my opinion, if you play one up front, it must be kane, i thought about stiking bale in the middle of the diamond and kane and vardy as strikers but i dont think that would work. I have seen Bale play as a attacking midfielder for a few games when he was at southampton (i'm a southampton fan and yes i did know about him "before he was famous").

Only if you want to dominate possession. With Sterling, Vardy and Bale you play on the break.

Well here's the thing, when England lose possession the other team attacks and as long as your best defender is Smalling you need to keep the ball if you don't want your butt clenched for 90 minutes.

I'd pick Dier and Williams at the back, personally. The real problem is a lack of solidly defensive fullbacks, imo, otherwise I'd absolutely go 4-3-3 counter with Sterling, Vardy and Bale up top.

One plays on the break for one reason when your defenders are not the best.......having them packed in counters them not being as good. That is the whole idea. When the opposition have space to attack is when ones defence is most vunerable.

Have the Russkies been behaving themselves? It would be a shame for a team to be disqualified because of their fans. But also it would be great drama.

Down 2-0 to Slovakia. Twenty quid they'll lose, the fans riot, and Slutsky says something along the line of "we didn't play well so their rioting is justified."

They might have heard me, Russia just started doing better at about the half hour mark. Just when the female announcer in ESPN stopped sounding like she was reading off a script rather unnaturally.

And now they're looking as if they were already eliminated. Slow breaks, poor passing, protecting the ball at all.

Weak bit of Slovakian defense and Russia manages a goal, now it looks like they suddenly have energy.

Russian Foreign Minister totes mad with France. But more importantly: "Drinking alcohol in the streets has also been banned." This is only going to further enrage the Russians! And everyone else!

Bertrand is a very solid defensive fulback, i regularly watch him for southampton. And hes a better corner/freekick taker than kane.

Mate, everyone is a better choice for corner kicks than your freaking striker.

Talking of that (great film btw) did the Iceland kit yesterday remind anyone else of the one in Escape to Victory.

Russians brought flares into stadium again, and their "fans" are currently roaming Lille trying to start fights. It seems the Welsh and English fans are actually sticking together to protect themselves.

It's such a shame for the Russian team and the majority of their fans who aren't hooligans. Wonder if Russia will be knocked out or kicked out first.

From what I've read and heard, the English and Welsh chanting at the Russians was very low key. The welsh were in one bar the English another directly across the street. Small group of Russians appeared, thew couple of bottles and chairs then walked away. Chanting of We are England and Wales happened spontaneously and it went viral. Other than that I don't think there has been much mixing. Reports of fights between Welsh and English on trains to Lille. Plus England fans causing fights with police last night. Hope we could be talking are football especially as it is our first time but we all seem distracted by the nonsensical violence.

As for the game I'm excited if a little worried how I'm going to be able to see it all while in work. Get an hour for lunch to start at any time between 12-3 (ko 2). So do I watch first half or wait until 3 ish and watch the 2nd?
