"A Game"? Not yet... Ukraine is probably the second-weakest team Germany will play in the tournament (Northern Ireland being the weakest) and Neuer saved their bacon a few times. First half they were quite aggressive with the full backs going forward, but that exposed them. And defending from standards wasn't that flash either (having had to switch the defense around several times over the past couple of weeks probably didn't help there). Going forward was good, but obviously didn't get much to show for their efforts. The second goal was probably what Loew had been going for the whole second half... dial back the aggression a bit, let the Ukrainians try to chase the game a little more and then punish them on the counter.

Anyway, I think they did ok considering how the competition fared so far, but there's lots of room for improvement. I would like Gomez to play instead of Goetze as the central forward. What's the point of getting the fullbacks forward and put crosses in when you have Goetze and Oezil in the centre? Gomez is not as good with his feet, but if you have Draxler, Mueller and Oezil in and around the box, do you really need an extra dribbler and passer in there?

Ironically, there are reports that the reason things got so bad is because hooligans from all sorts of places organised these fights as a "last hurrah" because the next tournaments are in Russia and Qatar, and because security surveillance is getting much better. In the alleyways of Marseille you probably won't be stopped or caught, even if you do the French police will go comparatively easy on you and legal punishments will be relatively mild. Compare that to getting in a fight in Moscow, where security forces will probably beat those guys half to death, then send them to jail for a couple of years. Or Qatar, where things might just go even worse for people who make trouble.

EDIT: And future Euros are meant to be played all over the continent, which will make organising meetups way harder for these groups.
