Yes. If someone says they are trans, but I get the feeling they are not sincere, I have no problem calling them out. I don't think it's that difficult to make a distinction between a transwoman that is making an effort to present as female, but not quite passing, and a guy that is trying to barge in where he shouldn't.

Also just watch 30:00 - 40:00 from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj9qvBwOeMA

#1 The Missouri State Fair has permanently banned a rodeo clown from performing just because he wore an Obama mask, and now all of the other rodeo clowns are being required to take “sensitivity training“…

But the state commission went further, saying it will require that before the Rodeo Cowboy Association can take part in any future state fair, “they must provide evidence to the director of the Missouri State Fair that they have proof that all officials and subcontractors of the MRCA have successfully participated in sensitivity training.”
#2 Government workers in Seattle have been told that they should no longer use the words “citizen” and “brown bag” because they are potentially offensive.

#3 A Florida police officer recently lost his job for calling Trayvon Martin a “thug” on Facebook.

#4 “Climate change deniers” are definitely not wanted at the U.S. Department of the Interior. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell was recently quoted as making the following statement: “I hope there are no climate-change deniers in the Department of Interior”.

#5 A professor at Ball State University was recently banned from even mentioning the concept of intelligent design because it would supposedly “violate the academic integrity” of the course that he was teaching.

#6 The mayor of Washington D.C. recently asked singer Donnie McClurkin not to attend his own concert because of his views on homosexuality.

#7 U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is calling on athletes marching in the opening ceremonies at the Winter Olympics in Sochi next year to “embarrass” Russian President Vladimir Putin by protesting for gay rights.

ProPur. Gravity filtration is the best way to purify your water.
#8 Chaplains in the U.S. military are being forced to perform gay marriages, even if it goes against their personal religious beliefs. The few chaplains that have refused to follow orders know that it means the end of their careers.

#9 The governor of California has signed a bill into law which will allow transgendered students to use whatever bathrooms and gym facilities that they would like…

Transgendered students in California will now have the right to use whichever bathrooms they prefer and join either the boys’ or girls’ sports teams, thanks to landmark legislation signed by Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday.

The law amends the state’s education code, and stipulates that each student will have access to facilities, sports teams, and programs that are “consistent with his or her gender identity,” rather than the student’s actual biological composition. A male student who self-identifies as female could therefore use the girls’ bathroom, even if he is anatomically male.
#10 In San Francisco, authorities have installed small plastic “privacy screens” on library computers so that perverts can continue to exercise their “right” to watch pornography at the library without children being directly exposed to it.

#11 In America today, there are many groups that are absolutely obsessed with eradicating every mention of God out of the public sphere. For example, an elementary school in North Carolina ordered a little six-year-old girl to remove the word “God” from a poem that she wrote to honor her two grandfathers that had served in the Vietnam War.

#12 A high school track team was disqualified earlier this year because one of the runners “made a gesture thanking God” once he had crossed the finish line.

#13 Earlier this year, a Florida Atlantic University student that refused to stomp on the name of Jesus was banned from class.

#14 A student at Sonoma State University was ordered to take off a cross that she was wearing because someone “could be offended“.

#15 A teacher in New Jersey was fired for giving his own Bible to a student that did not own one.

#16 Volunteer chaplains for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have been banned from using the name of Jesus on government property.

#17 According to a new Army manual, U.S. soldiers will now be instructed to avoid “any criticism of pedophilia” and to avoid criticizing “anything related to Islam”. The following is from a Judicial Watch article…

The draft leaked to the newspaper offers a list of “taboo conversation topics” that soldiers should avoid, including “making derogatory comments about the Taliban,” “advocating women’s rights,” “any criticism of pedophilia,” “directing any criticism towards Afghans,” “mentioning homosexuality and homosexual conduct” or “anything related to Islam.”

#18 The Obama administration has banned all U.S. government agencies from producing any training materials that link Islam with terrorism. In fact, the FBI has gone back and purged references to Islam and terrorism from hundreds of old documents.

#19 According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, it is illegal for employers to discriminate against criminals because it has a “disproportionate” impact on minorities.

..I agree with most of them. Most of them are just telling people they can't be assholes and expect people to like it, or expanding civil rights.

I especially hate people bitching about not being able to discriminate against criminals. And I'll admit that happened after I became one. Someone having a record doesn't necessarily make them a bad person, untrustworthy, or a subpar worker. And it's extremely true that minorities are disproportionately and unjustly impacted.

The clown's act actually involved comments about "Stomping Obama". The firing was largely a result of that.

#2 Government workers in Seattle have been told that they should no longer use the words “citizen” and “brown bag” because they are potentially offensive.

There was no ban. An official in the Civil Rights office sent out a memo discouraging use of these words. There's been no case of anyone getting in trouble for using them, nor will there be, as it's not an actual regulation.

#3 A Florida police officer recently lost his job for calling Trayvon Martin a “thug” on Facebook.

Gosh, a public official, during a time of racial crisis in Florida, decided to call the black victim of a controversial shooting a "thug" despite the fact that said victim hadn't been convicted of a crime, and got sacked for it. Did you think that there was a possibility that they might have seen this as catastrophically poor judgment on his part?

#4 “Climate change deniers” are definitely not wanted at the U.S. Department of the Interior. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell was recently quoted as making the following statement: “I hope there are no climate-change deniers in the Department of Interior”.

Yes. They don't want scientists who don't agree with science. I won't even bother linking this since it's such basic common sense, but I will say that I bet that the CDC has a policy against hiring anti-vaxxers for its immunology programs.

#5 A professor at Ball State University was recently banned from even mentioning the concept of intelligent design because it would supposedly “violate the academic integrity” of the course that he was teaching.

Yes. Much as with the Interior Department, the college wanted to have science taught in science classes, not religion.

#6 The mayor of Washington D.C. recently asked singer Donnie McClurkin not to attend his own concert because of his views on homosexuality.

I actually disagree with the decision on the part of the mayor there. No argument.

#7 U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is calling on athletes marching in the opening ceremonies at the Winter Olympics in Sochi next year to “embarrass” Russian President Vladimir Putin by protesting for gay rights.

Next year? And so what? Seriously, just copy-pasting is the laziest thing EVER.

#8 Chaplains in the U.S. military are being forced to perform gay marriages, even if it goes against their personal religious beliefs. The few chaplains that have refused to follow orders know that it means the end of their careers.

That's an outright falsehood.

#9 The governor of California has signed a bill into law which will allow transgendered students to use whatever bathrooms and gym facilities that they would like…

A male student who self-identifies as female could therefore use the girls’ bathroom, even if he is anatomically male.

Yes. However, it's not "whichever they like", but rather whichever one they identify with. It's not like a boy will be able to go to school, tell the coach that he feels like a girl that day, use their facilities, then use the boys' facilities the next day. So far, there have been no incidents of any disruptions as a result of this law.

#10 In San Francisco, authorities have installed small plastic “privacy screens” on library computers so that perverts can continue to exercise their “right” to watch pornography at the library without children being directly exposed to it.

Would you prefer that the children were directly exposed to it?

Also, you know what else that library probably has? Books with tons of sexual content. Want to filter that, as well?

#11 In America today, there are many groups that are absolutely obsessed with eradicating every mention of God out of the public sphere. For example, an elementary school in North Carolina ordered a little six-year-old girl to remove the word “God” from a poem that she wrote to honor her two grandfathers that had served in the Vietnam War.

You know, I read a lot of articles on that, and it was weird: The little girl's name was never mentioned. Her parents made no comment. The poem itself was never listed. The closest thing that I could find to an unbiased source was Fox News (if that tells you anything), and even he was writing a blog on the so-called "culture war". I couldn't find a mention of it in the local paper. I can't comment on it without a less biased source to check.

#12 A high school track team was disqualified earlier this year because one of the runners “made a gesture thanking God” once he had crossed the finish line.

Incorrect. And this is from a hard-right source.

#13 Earlier this year, a Florida Atlantic University student that refused to stomp on the name of Jesus was banned from class.

According to the professor in question, the student was banned from class because he physically threatened the professor after class. This is at best a "He said-he said".

#14 A student at Sonoma State University was ordered to take off a cross that she was wearing because someone “could be offended“.

One supervisor said this to her, and was wrong. The university immediately stated that this was not their policy, that such a request was actually directly contrary to the policies of the university and the state university system, and apologized to the student in question.

#15 A teacher in New Jersey was fired for giving his own Bible to a student that did not own one.

And? A public school teacher shouldn't be handing out religious scriptures for non-academic purposes.

#16 Volunteer chaplains for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have been banned from using the name of Jesus on government property.

They were told to not use specific Christian references during invocations at official functions, as the department does not support any one religion, and has firefighters from numerous belief systems.

Yes. They were having problems with people doing so in Afghanistan, where women tend to be married off young, and pretty much everyone is Muslim. As distasteful and downright wrong as it is to our Western sensibilities, there's nothing to be gained by pissing off the locals even more. However, that was an early draft, and I haven't found any followup articles to suggest that it made it into the final draft.

#18 The Obama administration has banned all U.S. government agencies from producing any training materials that link Islam with terrorism. In fact, the FBI has gone back and purged references to Islam and terrorism from hundreds of old documents.

Not what happened.

#19 According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, it is illegal for employers to discriminate against criminals because it has a “disproportionate” impact on minorities.
[/quote]

They were using arrests and convictions that did not prohibit the people in question from effectively performing the job at hand, as they were not taking into consideration the nature of the offense, the length of time since conviction, and numerous other factors, and using this as an excuse to screen out black applicants.

Technically it's referred to as gender identity disorder or gender dysphoria in the DSM-V. Of course, I believe that whether or not being transgender is a disorder to be impertinent to the issues surrounding it, seeing as disorders are characterized (in this sense) by changes in thought, which does not necessarily entail a large extent of normative content. Calling transgendered people "disordered" is psychiatrically tantamount to stating that they are in significant distress, which everyone would agree with, entailing that it has no significant impact on the debate over transgender questions.

Wrong. Gender Dysphoria is a psychological disorder associated with transgender.

Hmm. Could you do me the benevolent favor of elaborating on the distinction between the two?

EDIT: I'm thinking it relates to the fact that one can be transgender without the accompanying stress.

For something to be considered a disorder it has to interfere with a person's ability to function in society. While being transgender involves some level of gender dysphoria, it does not necessarily reach the level/intensity for it to qualify as being severe enough to be considered a disorder.

Lol, that OP is just out there.

That said, Idrc what Drake Bell says even more so than I don't really care about Jenner. I've never met him and likley never will meet/interact with him in the future so his "decision" doesn't really cause me great concern about my own personal preference, which is to continue referring to him as Bruce Jenner.

Your "personal preference" is intolerant, bigoted, and blatantly and demonstrably incorrect, and from it we can infer that you are either willfully ignorant, mean-spirited, or some sort of paleoconservative.

ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

No big deal. It's better than the times that I've put serious time and effort into crafting a detailed post, only to find when I hit "enter" that the thing was locked while I was in the middle of composing it.

That's the main problem Radical Feminists like me have with trans persons.

So, what you're saying is, women are defined by vaginas. That's pretty misogynist.

No, that's what you're saying.
I pointed out that is a very important factor, but a vagina it's not enough to define a woman.
Lack of male privilege is even more important, in example.
