A) I had nothing to do with it - thus have no reason to be sorry.
or
B) I did it - thus have no reason to be sorry.

Context
If somebody is talking trash about Dumbledore's beard and you disagree, the first example is correct.
If you and numerous people are taking a vote on the fabulousness of Dumbledore's beard and most of the group votes against his beard, the second would be correct.
Welcome to the English language, where most differences are stupid but are still differences nonetheless.
