Chuck E. Cheese

Postby Empire of Narnia » Fri May 08, 2015 10:58 pm

If you do not know Chuck E. Cheese is a truly brilliant restaurant concept combining arcade games, great food, animatronics and costumed performers. The chain is popular across Canada and the USA as well as various international locations. As I have recently discovered not everybody likes it however. Some criticize the quality of the games and especially the food. I find such views to be unfounded. The main legitimate gripe people have is the "Circle of Lights" stage that has no animatronic. Thankfully most locations do not have this stage but more do since currently all new CEC locations are getting this stage. Thankfully for me mine has a Studio C. If you've got Circle of Lights problems I feel bad for you comrade. I've got 99 problems but a Circle of Lights ain't one.

So, NSG should more people visit Chuck E. Cheese? Do you think it deserves the negative reputation some people give it? Should the government encourage more people to visit Chuck E. Cheese? My opinion is that Chuck E. Cheese is a great place to eat and have fun. All the bad things people say about it are not true and are simply the result of a negative attitude.

If by "encourage" you mean "mandate daily visits under strict penalty of deportation to Antarctica," then yes. On an unrelated note, does anybody want to buy some Chuck E. Cheese stock? I have a lot.

What are the better ones? Showbiz Pizza was arguably better but it closed down in the early 90's. If you visit a Chuck E. Cheese with an animatronic show that has three stages (one big stage in the middle and two smaller off to each side) it was once a Showbiz Pizza.

Chuck E. Cheese still exists? I haven't heard of or seen a commercial for that place since the local one closed down about twelve years ago. A bunch of kids got salmonella and/or food poisoning, can't quite recall.

It still exists for sure. If your local one closed down you should check online and see if their are any other good ones in the area. What type of animatronics show did your local one have?

No idea, it was in the next town over and we were too poor to visit. All I know is that it had a reputation for being expensive and having subpar food and being dirty.

I'm also an adult. I've no interest in driving long distance and paying to look like a pervert creeping on kids, which is exactly what any adult there by themselves would look like.

It's...a nice place for kids I guess. My parents used to do my birthday parties there when I was younger. Looking back I don't see it as being particularly amazing though; it was just cool at the time.

Some of my best childhood memories are at Chuck E. Cheese.

I haven't been to one in a very long time. When I was a kid, I enjoyed the games and whatnot, but I wasn't into the food. I think my biggest issue with the food was just lack of variety and the fact that I'm allergic to tomato, but it has been so long that I don't remember it clearly.

It's marketed to kids; of course it's tacky and gross. :p

Chuck E. Cheese still exists? There used to be one in the same city where my parents live, but that went out of business and I hadn't heard of or seen one in Canada. I sort of assumed that they'd all gone out of business for some reason...

Don't think I've been to one in... probably 'bout a decade, now, maybe a bit longer. It was fun, but when I look at my posts from a few years ago I think that I was a massive idiot, so I'm going to take everything eight-year-old me thought with about a metric ton of salt.

CEC does still exist in Canada. I think all the stages are Studio C, so you'll have to go to the USA if you want to see a 3-stage or cyberamic show.

I'm not under the age of 12 and am not the parent of a person under the age of 12. I have absolutely zero reason to visit a Chuck E. Cheese in the near future.

Even if I did, I probably wouldn't go because the ball pits are always full of puke and piss.

Well, since this is a place where debate and deliberation is fostered, I have to ask this question:

Freddy Fazbear's Pizza or Fredbear's Family Diner? I liked the latter due to the more modern approach it had, but the former was a bit more endearing for the kids. That Pirate's Cove robot actually snuck in a few jokes over the kid's heads, which is something as a Navy man I can appreciate.
