Israel recognizes any marriage from other countries that was legally performed in that country; but only religious authorities can perform marriages in Israel. A mixed Muslim-Jewish couple cannot be married in Israel, and would fly to Cyprus to get married there, but there are far more common cases: Jews who are not recognized as sufficiently Jewish by the Orthodox rabbis who control religious marriage, or who are just too secular-minded to put up with all the foofara of a religious ceremony, likewise fly to Cyprus.

To bad none of NASA is in the good parts of the USA, instead of Texas, Alabama, and Florida.

A tragedy of geography, really (you also forgot Louisiana and Mississippi). Florida is really the only decent place in the continental US to launch rockets, and thus, all of the other facilities being in proximity to FL makes sense (Michoud and Stennis, in particular, especially Michoud, given that it manufactures things like the Shuttle External Tank, which can only be shipped by water). So you've really gotta feel for the NASA employees and families who are queer.

Anyway, Goddard and JPL are in decent parts of the country. Not great, mabe, but better than Texas or Alabama.

I went to Marshall for Space Camp, like almost immediately after Katrina. Had the time of my life. And the food was fucking amazing.

Japan is kind of like the Germany of Asia. And not just for the WWII comparisons (though, certainly, that war probably has something to do with the two being so similar).

They're both considered very progressive places, but in reality, are quite behind their allies. For instance, IIRC, same sex marriage still isn't a thing in Germany, either.

The only real difference, obvious cultural differences aside, is that women in Japan are still more or less second-class (women-only train cars are a thing, because of lolhigh gropings and rapings), and racial discrimination is still totally a thing in Japan.

We didn't get those when I went. Then again, I was 10.

Also, there's where you went wrong. Vegetarian. The best shit was the meat. Other than the biscuits. Then again, having had to eat MREs and school cafeteria food probably made Marshall's stuff seem better in comparison.

It's interesting, and I recognise that they have noble intentions, but I'm not sure their method is reliable. Measuring pupil dilation has previously been used in Canada to determine whether civil servants were gay, but the methodology was deeply flawed. I don't know what changes they've made in this study, but it could contain many of the same flaws.

Also, I can foresee homophobes using studies like this to "prove" that conversion therapy works ("see, no one's 100% gay, so they have the potential to be straight!"). Not to mention that the people conducting the study seem to be ignoring the existence of asexual people.
