Sounds like you just skimmed through Fountainhead until you found a few lines that out of context confirmed your political identity. Like every libertarian ever.

I wonder how many Randians have actually read Atlas Shrugged.

The only book that makes me want to fast myself to death the way some Jains do at the end of their life.

I mean don't get me wrong while it is readable it makes the book of quotes by Mao Tse Tung seem legitimately practical.

What.

At least in my experience, yeah, a lot are. The amount of teenagers and 20-somethings that are hardcore neocons is kind of startling.

I wouldn't call it readable. It's horrifyingly boring, selfish, and borderline psychopathic.

In my experience people love to vote the party they adamantly know won't solve their problems.

At least in the U.S of all places.

Want to solve female teenage pregnancy?

Vote the Republicans in so we can abolish your public schools sex education, and restrict the ability for your teenagers to get access to abortion/contraceptives.

I consider myself libertarian. (well, close; really more of a classical liberal) I can't stand Ayn Rand. You don't need to advocate self-centeredness and hatred to promote individual liberty. In fact, it's dependent on a caring populace, that takes care of people without the need for state involvement. I don't know why more libertarians and libertarianesque individuals can't see this.

I wasn't speaking from looking at research, I didn't care that much. I was judging from people I know in Virginia and Colorado. Perhaps they're isolated and nontypical.

I'm not trying to argue, it's just the impression I've gotten from the world around me. Guess I just somehow know a lot of hard ass neocons.

Yeah, Rand really wasn't a good person.

In fairness anger, and bitterness tends to make people downright unpleasant.

They were pretty good at trolling people over the Israeli/Palestinian issue.

She may have been a decent person, but I've heard she was mildly autistic, so there may have been a disconnect between personal experience and theory. It's not that she was necessarily selfish, but selfishness is still what comes through in her writing.
