Well there feels like there is more overt racism in the south than other portions of the country. I would argue it's much better than it was, and it is improving, But a lynching in Mississippi wouldn't surprise me.

While it isn't out of the question, there's no evidence to suggest it was racially motivated murder. It also wouldn't count as a lynching in any case, unless you have evidence that a mob hanged the man, in which case you should share that information with the police.
