Invasion is a bit strong, let's at least fuck with their economy and send their social order down the drain. Maybe that will inspire their population to revolt and we might get a decent Indonesian government for a change. At the very least, one not so determined to murder Australians.

Indonesian logic:
Shoot 5 Australian journalists reporting a genocide; get a medal.
Help to blow up a nightclub and kill 202 people, 88 Australians; get five years in prison
Smuggle some druuuuuuuugs; shot to death.
Murder some Australian tourist; lolwut we don't know who did that

Personally, I'd somewhat for embargoing Indonesia at this point. Just because they have such a shitty government that clearly isn't capable of living in the 21st century.

That's called corruption, something I'm very much against.

Well, honestly, it kinda depends on the crime, maybe if citizens were harmed.

I think death penalty is not solution for the drugs problem in Indonesia. Even the worst criminals ever is didnt deserve to death penalty. the only problem that make their nation facing big problem with drugs is their corrupt polices & other officers . luckily the human trafficking victim marry jane survive from the death penalty

Talking about being biased. They broke the law in Indonesia so they should be hold to account within Indonesia.

It is absolutely true however, that there was virtually no opium in all of China by 1956, the PRC had so thoroughly stamped it out at that time. There were no poppy fields to be found where they previously existed. Opium only began to come back to China as soon as it gradually opened up to capitalism under Deng Xiaoping and abandoned Mao Zedong's ideological platform.

Well to be fair, under Mao, China had other things to worry about other than petty drugs... (i.e. the "Great Leap Forward" and the subsequent famines... Talk about population control)

As someone who's fiercely pro-death penalty, I support this action by Australia. Firstly, executing someone for a drug charge is about as stupid as you can get. Secondly, they executed a bunch of foreigners and didn't expect anger or retaliation? Yeah okay Indonesia, keep dreaming. Hopefully my country (Canada) will follow in Australia's footsteps and recall our ambassador.

Well, it's up to them if they want to ruin the relations between us...

And if their families don't want their relatives/children to be executed, then why did they let them run free in our country running dope? Every action has their consequences, and this is theirs. Deal with it. Lots of Indonesians died, probably because they took drugs from the convicts, fyi. Ever heard of the term "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth"?

By the way, it's also the Police forces's fault. The top ranks are filled with corrupt scumbags who earn millions every month just sitting around, barking orders, and letting go of corrupt officials who stole billions of the people's tax money. Even the lower ranked officers are corrupt, letting traffic lawbreakers go for an amount of money.

It's not a good idea to invade us either. You guys will start another World War. Seriously.

As a Filipino, I'm quite curious, what do you think of the Veloso case, assuming I'm speaking to an Indonesian.

Yes, I am an Indonesian. My salutations to you.

About M.J Veloso, our former president, S.B Yudhoyono spared her back in 2010. After Jokowi got elected, she was again scheduled to be executed. I read in the wiki that her godsister kinda forced her into doing this, so it's the godsister who should be punished actually.

If Veloso does need to be punished, I think she should be put behind bars again for the rest of her life, not death.

Well the only thing she did wrong is not double check her luggage. Plus she has two kids and is a single mother, so it's kinda hard not to do anything for her. But at the end of the day, the Government in Indonesia did well in sparing her because keeping her alive is in the best interest of the Indonesian people.

True. If I'm the president right now, I'll order my men to hunt her godsister down. Then bring her here, and send her to prison for the rest of her life.

Well, probably yes.

But Jokowi definitely doesn't, as he insisted, "This is not a cancellation but a postponement." Which probably means she will be executed some time in the future. Let's just hope and pray that that won't happen. This is why I told my parents to not vote for him at the elections, but my parents didn't care.
