According to Dutch doctors (they voiced their disagreement last year on television) people get labeled too quickly. Nowadays almost everybody has a disorder, disability or allergy.

I'm certain that there is a group of people who make money of this autism and anti-vaccine thing.

What do you think?

I find it interesting that they have a link to the report and they talk about a specific thing that is IN the report but they don't tell you how to find that particular thing in the 1200 page report.

So, where is Bachmann America now? You can't just copypaste a bad source onto a forum, then leave amid a torrent of bored, mildly angry people.

Autism has risen from 1 in 10000 in the 1980s to 1 in 29 today. We are on track to 1 in 1 if we don't stop using vaccines.

Umm vaccines first became compulsory and widely used in the late 1800s. If your argument was true autism should have exploded in the late 1800s. We should all be autistic considering nearly everyone in the developed world has been vaccinated since the late 1800s. There has been no increase in use of vaccines in the West recently, so you lack both correlation and causation.

People die in car crashes. Most people who die in car crashes have been vaccinated. Ergo vaccines cause car crashes. See how silly your argument is? It is a complete non sequitur.

The "increase" in autism in the U.S. probably has to with over diagnosis and the fact that many parents think if their child does not conform socially they must have a mental illness. Yes this is bad but has nothing to do with vaccines. Especially since this is recent, and people have been vaccinated for over 100 years.

This is udder male cow excrement.

It's all because of the greed of a British doctor, who wants to dethrone the MMR in favour of his own, and make millions. Apparently, he was stripped off his license. Justice served.

Go spend a year in a third world country and you'll come back grateful for vaccines. Or if you don't get vaccinated, you won't come back.

I know you are joking but in the good old days before autism we still used vaccines. Vaccines have been widely use since the 1800s.

I don't think there are set criteria, which means that determining autism is a pretty haphazard thing right now.

Hell, if you're socially inept and really good at maths but nothing else they might tag you with autism, too, even though you might just be a modest nerd.

This, basically. Nowadays anyone who isn't a clice has some disorder or whatever else. With autistics, millinons of non-autistics are being labeled autistic just because they have poor social skills, or are good at math, or because they have lots of habits. It's ridiculous.

Yes, the autism epidemic is probably illusory and little more than a fad. It is just that the DSM is now so vague and overbroad you can make almost any kid autistic, and since it is in the news it has become a fad to think your kid has autism. The "explosion" in autism has no correlation or causation with vaccines of course, but does have correlation and causation with the changes in the DSM that make it incredibly easy to diagnosis people with autism. Oh and since there is no bright line test, it is not like HIV, autism even if diagnosed is not proven. Of course some people do really have autism but now it has gotten ridiculous. I used to be a socially awkward kid, in grade school I read books instead of playing with the other kids at recess. I grew out of it, but I almost certainly could have been diagnosed with autism.

The results of several large American, European and Japanese studies demonstrate that although the rate of MMR vaccinations has remained constant or declined, the rate of autism diagnoses has soared.

There is no correlation between vaccines and autism.

I know correlation is not causation, but the anti-vaxxers do not even have correlation.

More anti-vaxxer "logic". I have been vaccinated. I have two cats. My mom has been vaccinated, she also has two cats. My aunt has been vaccinated, she has three cats. Ergo vaccines cause cats. If we do not stop vaccinating people soon the world will be overrun with cats.

Please OP, or any other anti-vaxxer, I want to hear how you address the fact that your entire argument is based on a demonstrably false premise that has no connection to your conclusion.

To a certain extent, all modern drugs being pumped out there by the pharmaceutical powers that be can have serious side effects. Read the label the next time you take some pills. See all those nasty hypothetical side effects? Does it stop you from taking them anyway? Hell no. Because there's about a million to one chance that shit will actually hurt you than help you.

I imagine you're as likely to get autism from a vaccine as you are a bottle of aspirin.

The worst thing about the anti-vaxxers is that vaccine use has remained constant or declined. So their argument becomes, vaccine use has declined, autism diagnosis have increased, ergo vaccines cause autism. I mean WTF!?

Yep, and yet vaccine use continues to decline, despite the fact that vaccines very clearly don't cause autism, and if they did, who cares? Protecting the rest of humanity from formerly deadly diseases is kinda worth taking the risk that you might get autism. I sure as hell know I'd get vaccinated anyways.

They aren't. They also never admitted, suggested, or believed that vaccines case autism. Somebody who I am assuming is very stupid saw a list of reported conditions in people who had been vaccinated and decided this was the company listing things that vaccines caused leading to the Hi-larious scenario where Natural News believes that vaccines not only cause autism but spider bites and concussions.

Exactly. If I had to guess, the autism rates have remained between .5%-2% of the population during the last century or so. It's just the rates of diagnosed kids just has increased. This is even more obvious when you realize that rates of diagnosed autism increase in developed counties and cities. Because that's where they are diagnosed.
Kids lucky enough to have access to vaccines are also kids who live close to people who diagnose kids with autism. That is literally the only connection between vaccines and autism.
