Come on. Even the Lancet said that "vaccines=autism" article was full of shit.

The study behind this article doesn't actually say they cause it either. Trawling through the charts, it looks more like a list of things that people who received the vaccine had or were affected by shortly after getting it, and even then it only includes two cases of autism out of 24 million people. It's basically just a case of hitting alt-f, typing in "autism", and seeing that it must be responsible, without reading literally anything else in the report.

The first few posts of this thread made me want to cry out of frustration. After reading all of the responses to this, my faith in humanity has been restored.

Seriously, it could be that children who are sickly in a non-specific way are more likely to be diagnosed with autism. Only because their parents take them to the doctor more often and if they still can't find a cause get referred to specialists.

Or even simpler than that. Doesn't the autism map look a lot like the population density map of Texas? City kids are more likely to see a doctor regularly, so they're more likely to be diagnosed with autism.

I've sometimes wondered if such a case would survive in court. If somebody claimed they didn't vaccinate their kids (or whatever the hoax du jour is) because they read a specific source, could the source be tried and convicted as an accessory to negligent homicide? I'm unsure if that would be a good outcome, but it would have a certain chilling effect on the bullshit artists.

I'm not a law expert (although I want to take a Intro to Law course my senior year in high school), so I would have to defer this one to someone who knows what they're talking about.

I said "cure autism," not "murder autistic children." Autism itself is not a problem for me, but if it causes vaccines, then something has to be done.

Sometimes I am thankful that I don't have a nervous system. With all the shit we viruses get from our hosts, I would not want to be able to feel pain.
