Many immigrants do support the GOP. I support the libertarians all the way, but if given a choice between two, I would pick the Republicans over Democrats.

Not agreeing with URSS, but many Democrats can be very condescending to minorities, treat them specially, and act like they are obligated to act (and vote) in certain ways. Often minority culture is disrespected by the same people who want to promote them. GOP can be the same way, and not all Democrats or GOPhers are that way.

Dictatorships still have political parties. Nazi Germany was a dictatorship, run by the Nazi Party. The USSR was Stalinist. Stalinism is a form of socialism, which is a step in the process of achieving communism. And Stalinism is as far from communism as you can get while still being left wing.

It was an oligarchic state obviously. The only form of tyranny that can truly be perpetuated is not through petty dictatorship but through the collective ideal of an oligarchical, total state.

As a Christian myself, I think we should not be too caught up in politics as I feel witnessing to others is more important.

I am not saying a Christian cannot have personal opinions with politics or get involved in it, we should not forget our calling as Christians.

I think you can defend both socialism and capitalism with Scripture. Jesus does teach that we should help the poor, however, like the OP, it should not be coerced.
Following Christ has to be a choice.

In the OT, we see all sorts of laws that support private property (if you stole from someone, you were punished for it.)

I think voluntary socialism is the most Christian.

GOP is Protestant though. IMO there is currently no mainly Catholic or mainly Hispanic party that would be worth joining though.
