During the Gilded Age, yes there was great income equality, but that does not necessarily mean people were poor. During the Gilded Age, the average income for the American increased, just the fact that it did not increase as drastically compared to rich men. While the Gilded Age was definitely not ideal, it wasn't as bad as Mao's Great Leap Forward, which under the banner of communism, killed 60 million people.
Except that wasn't communism.

In capitalism, you pretty much have a 50/50 chance of being rich or poor. In communism, it's 1/99. What makes people think they have the luck/skill to become the 1% if they can't even succeed in a 50/50 society???

Dictatorships still have political parties. Nazi Germany was a dictatorship, run by the Nazi Party. The USSR was Stalinist. Stalinism is a form of socialism, which is a step in the process of achieving communism. And Stalinism is as far from communism as you can get while still being left wing.

In a dictatorship, a leader seizes power. A government in which an all powerful leader is elected from a party is not a dictatorship.

No, the GOP does not respect your culture. Look at that Arizona law, a clearly racist law. The Democrats are no better really because they support economic policies that has proliferated illegal immigration. Really, the only thing that I can see that the GOP has in common with Hispanics is that both are majority anti-abortion. Conservatives in the U.S. have always been racist, so it is a wonder that you would find an ideological home with those who hate you for you.
