You'd better believe I'm a bitter Bernie Sanders supporter. The Dems fucked up and fucked up hard. Hopefully they'll learn that neoliberalism and maintaining the status quo isn't the way to win this election or any other one. I doubt they will, though.

We're already fucked in that respect. I propose we create a district system in the middle of America and make Donald Sutherland the President.

We can save some for later if we take one of the measures I laid out. That's a win-win situation - we export oil sustainably while watching for the environment.

Common sense states that any exportation of oil will automatically make climate change worse. Using oil refined in the US doesn't automatically make it cleaner than oil from Norway or Iran.

That's not to say we should do nothing about it. Maybe we could wait until after COP21 to lift the oil export ban, depending on the quality of the agreement.

We're already on track to cut emissions slightly starting this year.

Industrial emissions of greenhouse gases rose only slightly in 2014 and appear to be on track to decline in 2015, according to new data that raise the possibility that a period of rapid global emissions growth may be coming to an end.

I repeat, what did we overreact to? You've listed a statistic, unless you're implying that we overreacted to the prediction of emissions dropping slightly, in which case I'm afraid I don't understand you.

Considering the literal 'It's too late, we're doomed' sentiment expressed in connection to emissions?
Yeah, that'd qualify as an 'overreaction'.

That's completely irrelevant to what Geil posted. A reduction in emissions does not change the effects that emissions have and will have.

The first article says growth in carbon emissions is expected to resume after this brief stall as other developing countries continue to industrialize. Think Nigeria and other potential African powerhouses whos population is set to continue to keep exploding into the 21st century.

I'm not sure who's been saying that except for those who have a vested financial interest in doing nothing about it.
