in the nineteenth century both nations were way more evil than the states currently is but after waterloo both get comparatively less flak than they ought to have gotten at the time. As a world hegemonic power, the states really ain't that bad.

for real mad respect to post-empire brits they're nice people to share a pint with but back in the day famine and and straight up massacres was accepted colonial policy
not even the states could fully get behind that shit, even their bloodiest imperial expansions (save for continental expansion) resulted in really squeamish subsequent policy (the philippines, where the US, fought a really brutal war of subjugation, ended with limited autonomy, and continued congressional discussion on filipino independence, this shit never happened with europeans).

Roflstomping on something countless men and women have died defending is very wrong and these students should be ashamed of themselves, as should those university police and especially the university. And they were stomping on a flag that symbolized oppression of their people and many others for centuries. If you choose to die for such a shitty cause, that's your fault.
