Claiming that you would beat the shit out of anyone you saw trying to desecrate the American flag very much makes you seem like you want to look tough on the internet, regardless of whether you would actually do that.

This is a question of law, not ideology. Manhart had the same right to the flag as the unidentified protesters. So she had as much right to pick it up as they had to deface it.

The protesters were the rightful owners of the flag.

Those who would make flag desecration illegal show far less respect for the values that flag represents than these protestors ever could. This vet in this news article is worse than the protestors.

That veteran is a patriot. Those who would destroy our greatest symbol are disturbed and of low moral character. She should be lauded for her actions; she did her duty to her country even after she took off the uniform.

She did no such thing. She tried to stop people exercising their rights under the constitution she swore to defend and bear true faith and allegiance to.

It's funny because the Air Force demoted her for posing nude and in uniform in Playboy.

Burning the flag of the United States is an ironic action by those edgy, rag wearing protesters. They burn the very flag that symbolizes the country and the people that defend and support their rights as human beings.

Veterans burn flags all the time. It is how flags are formally retired. There is nothing illegal or immoral about burning flags at all.

You burn a flag respectfully when its decommissioned. There are rules and regulations for properly burning an American flag upon decommission. Burning a flag disrespectfully and reprehensibly is what protesters.

As I said before, anyone threatening violence or calling for the arrest of the protestors are desecrating the flag in worse ways than these kids ever could.

To anyone who falls under that criteria, why do you hate America?

Again, regardless of whether you would actually do so, you look like you're just trying to act tough. People will probably take you more seriously if you leave out the bit about criminally attacking people and just say that you'd be very angry with them. Maybe buy a thesaurus and find other ways to say "very angry" that you think would fit.

Which was not a difference you bothered making.

A flag is a symbol. It is important, but the ideals it stands for superseded the mere cloth. Destroying a symbol is an entirely amoral action in the abstract. Even in context, nothing immoral occurred here, because nobody's rights were violated and nobody harmed.
