I've been toying with the idea of adopting one for my Misty to have a companion, but the truth is, she's too territorial. But when she's no longer with us, I would love adopting a black cat.

I don't have cable either. Shit, I don't even have local tv.

My life is much better for it.

Same here. I prefer Netflix. I can watch what I want, when I want to and at my pace, and I don't have to put up with commercials.

Some of the black cats do get homes, but honestly, their adoption rates is way lower than that of other cats in the shelter.

Someone ought to educate people about the relative harmlessness of black cats. I'm normally no fan of pets, but this news is still disappointing.
The United Colonies of Earth exists:
to encourage settlement of all habitable worlds in the Galaxy and perhaps the Universe by the human race;
to ensure that human rights are respected, with force if necessary, and that all nations recognize the inevitable and unalienable rights of all human beings regardless of their individual and harmless differences, or Idiosyncrasies;
to represent the interests of all humankind to other sapient species;
to protect all humanity and its’ colonies from unneeded violence or danger;
to promote technological advancement and scientific achievement for the happiness, knowledge and welfare of all humans;
and to facilitate cooperation in the spheres of law, transportation, communication, and measurement between nation-states.

I'd always wanted a Scottish Fold, but I've come around to adopting from a shelter. It seems better that way, to get one who already needs a home.

I live in a very rural area, which means that, unfortunately, a lot of animals get dropped off by those who don't want to take care of them. I have two different friends who have more than half a dozen dogs that they take care of because their neighborhoods are popular spots to drop them off. My grandmother has some like that as well. Basically, I've always been a softie for giving animals a new home when they need it.

Now that's just wrong. Discrimination based on appearance is rarely a legitimate thing to do, and most certainly not for that sort of activity.

WHen the history professors and half-historian fascists take over and make them do so, and ban all other channels.

Only if ratings fall and the people in charge decide historical programming will bring in viewers.

So never.

A reason I don't let my cat out. Small towns... they may look peaceful and spick n' span but peel off the fresh coat of paint from the white picket fences and sometimes, what you find, leaves you nauseated.

Hmm. Well they were more like TV documentaries/movie events than series. Like there was Aftermath: Population Zero, basically like Life After People but fit into one tv documentary. They were pretty cool.
