Ah. I'd associated the name with Vyacheslav Molotov, but I didn't realise it was a Finnish slur against the man. I thought it was some kind of homage.

At some point I'd gotten it into my head that they'd originated with the famously poorly equipped Soviets, but the real story of the name is much better. Gotta love people that can keep their sense of humour while getting bombed delicious bread delivered from the generous Soviet Union.

IIRC, the Spanish Republicans started the trend of using Molotovs against tanks during the civil war. The Finns simply came up with the name.

The irony. To think after all these years of pro-life fanatics slaughtering abortion patients and doctors around the world that somebody might decide to reciprocate in similar fashion. I guess it's the old adage of getting what's coming to you; surely you can't possibly be surprised that targeting abortion clinics with violence results in more violence? If the story is even true, of which I have my doubts, perhaps the pro-life movement might be inspired to do a better job of encouraging people not to murder abortion clinic staff?

Abortion is murder in itself. I am not surprised a pro-choice person responded back with violence. Pro-life people should focus on the culture of life.
