they want to cut the deficit AND give tax breaks to rich people. there is a chance they will leave your taxes alone but they have to make up the money somewhere eh?

No, they don't. Republicans are just as, if not more, enamored with deficit spending than a Democrat administration.
Ashmoria wrote:and ted just promised that he would work to institute the flat tax. that would probably raise your taxes.

Depends on implementation. Since Cruz didn't do anything but offer a few words, one can't really asses the impact of 'his' flat-tax plan.

but if he's raising my taxes, then wouldn't that make him a leftist?

I thought he was right-wing and all about tax cuts

Lol wtf!? Are you that ignorant that you think that the simple act of raising taxes makes one a leftist? That raising taxes is only done by leftists?

I again would also like to reiterate that Ted Cruz is simply the first in a VERY VERY crowded Republican platform. We're still expecting announcements from Jeb Bush (who btw is already on the campaign trail), Rand Paul, who is to announce next Monday, Chris Cristy, Scott Walker, and others.

The RNC is going to have a field day, and whilst we have individuals like Scott Walker and Ted Cruz making a name for themselves at CPAC, there is no clear front runner that Preibus and the others could possibly have.

On the Democratic side, we have Hillary Clinton (who has refused to announce, but does have several PAC's [the have been fundraising practically since she lost in 2008] and an exploratory committee). We also have the former Governor of Maryland, and POSSIBLY, Jerry Brown, Governor of California. Elizabeth Warren has said time and time again that she WON'T run, and Bernie Sanders is simply too left to ever hope to get pass the primaries (which is the plight of modern-day Independents).

To be honest, the 2016 race is so full of speculation, and rumors-since the 2016 race started in 2012-that what would normally be an intense 2 Convention Race, has turned into a mud puddle where bobble heads of potential candidates periodically pop above the surface of the muck, but sink back under the mud before anyone can get a beat on them.

Of course not. I'm not sure, given you apparently expect this of politicians, why you would think he is.

but if he doesn't support tax cuts for the middle class, then how does he expect to get the votes of the middle class (he needs their votes, they are the majority)?

By appealing to law and order alone?

it sounds like it should be a popular policy since no one likes to pay taxes

you could promise the middle class lower taxes while raising the taxes on the rich or imposing higher sales taxes on things that don't hurt most of the middle class...

Oh of course they are. This is a consolation prize. As was the State Department. Obama won, became the poster child of the DNC, and since has worked with Wasserman-Shultz to bolster Clinton in as many ways as humanly possible. The last 8 years have simply been a training session for the President that "no one" was "ready" for in 2008.

ugh.

He won't win, unless something really scandalous with Hilary happens or she decides not to run and the party support splits.

We DO NOT need more of the same tea partyer/gridlock idiocy that has been a large part in stalling the way this government has been working. People who can work both aisles or who are more moderate need to be elected.

By appealing to law and order and by appealing to people's beliefs that if they work really hard they can get rich, at which point they start thinking that when they do get rich they're going to need low taxes on the upper class and relaxed regulations.

No, because they is how American politics work. It is like the mafia. The DNC OWES the Clinton family big time....

As demonstrated by the last century or so of government finance, taxes not covering bills is quite common, as is cutting taxes even when spending is greater than revenue.
