It was probably because it's easier to personify someone as an animal, especially on an internet forum, and I do occasionally enjoy getting into character when I'm feeling a bit silly.

That's entirely up to you. TET really isn't an RP forum, so I think it'd be kind of jarring if the animal anthropomorphism was taken to extremes, but a little bit is a-ok.
