Argh, that's sad. A big loss for everyone who ever liked him, and probably for a lot more. I was hoping he would maybe speak the quotes in the next Civilization game again.

Leonard Nimoy 1931 - 2015

Postby Farnhamia » Fri Feb 27, 2015 11:24 am

Oh, no ... http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/27/arts/ ... at-83.html

Leonard Nimoy, the sonorous, gaunt-faced actor who won a worshipful global following as Mr. Spock, the resolutely logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and movie juggernaut “Star Trek,” died on Friday morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. He was 83.

Well, he lived long and prospered.

Edit: Should have known there was a thread already.

Since Hollywood is LA's home-town industry, The Los Angeles Times has some articles on Leonard Nimoy, including two photo sets.

"The hero worship will continue or the Spock fandom is doomed. It is the logic of history.", paraphrased from ST:OG "Mirror, Mirror"

The loss of such a centerpiece to the Star Trek community and the United States cannot be overstated. May he rest in peace.

I've been building an interactive starship in Minecraft. I will be sending orders via subspace radio to rewrite the name from Engelson to Nimoy.

Damn.

It's a telling occasion indeed when there's no sign of fedora-wearing hipsters trying to poo poo his passing for edge creds.

A hero to generations of kids with more brains than social skills, including me. From all accounts, a man of incredible kindness, compassion, and gentle humor.

To my fellow fans, I grieve with thee.

Well that's quite ridiculous. Nimoy spanned multiple generations. He's a legend, not some mere celebrity.

We lost James Doohan.

We lost DeForest Kelley.

We lost Leonard Nimoy.

The Original Series has finally lost everyone who could act worth a damn.

:( My day got worse
For anyone wondering, I joined this website during my edgy teenage years. I made a lot of dumb, awkward posts, flip-flopped between various extreme ideologies, and just generally embarrassed myself. I denounce a sizable amount of my past posts. I am no longer active on NationStates and this nation/account is no longer used.

He did recite a bit of it with "young Spock" in a commercial a few years back. Does that help ?
