But (most of) the Christians in the US are violent and disgusting, my mother was a Christian and literally said any non-Christians were evil demons and I should hate them all.

I don't see what problems the government protecting my religion would bring.

It already is under the first ammendment. Making it the national religion is not even possible; sure they can try and revise the constituiton to implement their horrible goal, but there is no way in hell it is going to fly.

The nation is dominated by violent and pious Christians, and it's truly sad to see religion oppressed.

I think you have it wrong. Someone who believes what the Tea Party is supposed to stand for would NEVER support the establishment of a national religion. I would guess most of the NO votes in that poll were by Tea Party people. It's always big government Republicans (& Democrats) that want the government to control everything we do. The Tea Party is more aligned with respecting people's individual freedoms then the MSM would have you believe.
