This is foolish, I can't believe this even has to be debated, when you say curry you mean thousands of dishes from anywhere, this is funny, you need to specify

- Genital mutilation, but only if the child is male.
- Like Mike said, the pledge: every international student I ever housed or fraternized with during high school thought this was downright bizarre; not the symbolism of the ritual itself, that made sense to them, but just how instinctive the thing is despite the fact that none of the kids really give a shit about the ritual.
- Putting cheese on fucking everything.
- Building towns in a way that guarantees that quality of life diminishes like, fifteenfold unless you own an automobile.

What's so bizarre about circumcision? Sure, it's archaic, but America definitely isn't the last place that practices it.

To your last point: at some point or another, the majority of Americans moved to the suburbs, and so the country, the states, and the cities grew around the needs of suburbia. It just so happens that the affordable car made the suburbs possible - and that's one of the reasons why America has more roads than any other country in the world (in fact, just over 10% of the total road length of the world), and why the our interstate system is second only in length to China.

That'd need for him to go ahead and *gasp* talk with people on Wikipedia on the talk page.

Yep, now many pages are very much monitored by the people who edit said pages.

I can't believe you started this debate. The simple solution is just going quiet, because it's not important.

Perhaps people wishing to argue the semantics of curry should take said debate to a new thread? Getting just a smidge off the rails for this one.

Fine by me.
I find Walmart strange at times, mostly because I find I can buy a pistol, a knife, vegetables, toilet paper and a few other things in the same place.
But then again, Mexico also has Walmart, but I still find it weird.

Driving on the wrong side of the road, i.e. the right, instead of driving on the right side of the road, i.e. the left.

travelling hundreds or thousands of miles, in order to gamble coins and look at naked ladies on a stage, in a city built in the desert.

Roadside attractions - Worlds Largest Ball of Twine and similar.

town and city streets arranged in a grid pattern, regardless of terrain.

those are the things about American culture that I find a little strange.

This is somewhat arbitrary (i.e. there is no "wrong" way to drive on the road), but I can see how it would be confusing to someone used to the opposite.

Kaztropol wrote:travelling hundreds or thousands of miles, in order to gamble coins and look at naked ladies on a stage, in a city built in the desert.

Oh come now, Americans didn't invent gambling or strip clubs. But I will grant you that Vegas is a very weird place.

These are pretty strange and as far as I know, uniquely American.

It's true, and I can't stand it. But some cities are better planned than others. For example, I would never recommend anyone try driving in San Francisco...

I don't find it so, but I'm not opposed to Tabasco, either.
It's definitely a thicker condiment though -- it's not as liquidy as Frank's or Tabasco so you might find it less vinegary?
