There isn't one, but if there was one, I'd want it to be Valhalla. An eternity of feasting, drinking, fighting and fornicating.

There is no afterlife. To say that there is an afterlife is to spit in the face of modern neurological science.

The human personality is in totality just the sum of various neurological processes which end at the point of death.

It depends on what scale you're using. Earth is incredibly old and we're just a small speck of its timeline. We're all very insignificant. It's up to you to make your experience, your own life, significant. Being a part of universal history when you're not around anymore isn't really that big of a deal, is it?

Though mankind does have the tendency to imagine themselves more significant than they truly are. It's frightening, I suppose, to realize we're not that big of a deal, especially in a society that promotes individuality.

Nah, not a very big deal. But it's still a deal. You might not be a significant part of cosmic history but you were a part. A thread in the tapestry, to make a crude analogy. Though I do agree that it's important to make our lives significant to ourselves.

Personally, I can't believe in an afterlife. In certain times of my life, I've tried to, I've tried to find evidence and convincing arguments in favor of the idea of an afterlife. But, to me it seems unfeasible.

Of course, nowadays, I'm perfectly content with the idea that when I die, it's lights out for me. If someone believes in an afterlife, I won't judge or criticize, since I'm not a uppity self righteous militant atheist. But, personally, I don't like the idea of an afterlife, nor do I believe in one.

Not for me. It's very natural to be afraid of the unknown, or "darkness", but when we're dead, we can't worry about being dead. It's a natural part of life. Because I'm alive, I'm going to worry about my life, I'm going to try to enjoy it, and focus on living. When I'm dead, I won't be able to focus on being deader than the blackberry.

"It will happen to all of us, that at some point you get tapped on the shoulder and told, not just that the party’s over, but slightly worse: the party’s going on — but you have to leave. And it’s going on without you. That’s the reflection that I think most upsets people about their demise. All right, then, because it might make us feel better, let’s pretend the opposite. Instead, you’ll get tapped on the shoulder and told, Great news: this party’s going on forever – and you can’t leave. You’ve got to stay; the boss says so. And he also insists that you have a good time."

Why do you want to be stuck in same place for eternity - no matter how large the place is or how awesome experiences are eternity is a long time and before long (from perspective of eternity) you would have explored everywhere and experienced everything near infinite times. Then what? You can't die, you are stuck in a quite monotonous place for ever - that is eternal torture.
Alternatively there is reincarnation, where you suffer massive amnesia and everyone you ever knew or loved dont recognise you and you dont recognise them. Going through the motions for as long as any life form exists with no real purpose or knowledge of what you did previously.

Both of these alternatives are infinitely worse than just peaceful cessation of existence at point of death.

When I reflect on death, the thing which most bothers me is the idea that people I care about will probably be hurt by my loss.

Frankly, I'm glad there's no reason to think I'll be around to see that. Even just knowing that it might be happening would be torment enough.
