My paternal great-great-grandfather was a construction boss. That's about the furthest back I can trace.

I haven't had the chance to trace anything on my mother's side, though.

I haven't had the chance to trace anything on my mother's side, though.

IIRC, my family goes as far back as 1780, maybe even 1600. Don't really know.
I should search that out one time.

Mine was imprisoned by the Japs in WWII, from what I've heard. He's been gone for about a decade by now.

It has been proven, too.

Interestingly, my family was also very involved in the military, especially during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore. Since my great-grandfather was the stepbrother of a prominent anti-Japanese resistance leader, the Kempeitai tried to interrogate him so as to get more information on the resistance's plans. When he refused, they took him to a beach along the north coast and drowned him.

The irony was that all that my great-grandfather knew about was Lim Bo Seng's whereabouts. He was just a biscuit factory manager.
