Depends, I live in the US and so tend to use that system. I am also an Engineer and use SI units a lot. I think I have the greatest difficulty with temp in C or Kelvin.

Metric all the time, I looked at wikipedia and this "fancy" system they use in the US is really confusing...

I use colloquial measures and references:
How much is in the gas tank? 1/4 full.
How far away is it? Over yonder.
How much does it weigh? Meh.
How deep am I? Just the tip.

No. Fahrenheit defines itself as the freezing point of a brine solution at 0. 100 was originally the temperature of a normal, healthy human, as determined by sticking the thermometer into your wife's armpit. It was then adjusted to what it was now.

Never having used Fahrenheit, I now wonder - why was it changed so that 100 is now the temperature of a human being with a fever ?

Wanenheim is a nation situated in the Pacific Ocean not far away from Japan and Russia. Wanenheim was colonized as uninhabited island by the German Empire in the 19th century. During WW1 Japan and the US occupied Wanenheim and after the US took over Wanenheim in WW2 the island group gained independence in 1950. Today Wanenheim is a Federal Republic in which English and German are the most spoken languages in the country. The southern state is largely populated by Japanese who immigrated in the seventies. This question is useless as we all know that the metric system is the most logical and the most used and the most easy and etc...

I prefer the metric system. I've lived with the system for years and I feel it makes more sense (to me, at least), compared to the other systems.

As there is 10 tens in the number 100, and as there is twelve 8.3333333333333, a decimal number, in 100, it's quite logical to say that the Imperial system is complicated as f*ck.

BTW i don't see how the 12 apostles of Jesus are related to systems of measurements.

I don't know. Checking with good ole wikipedia, it is because later scientists wanted the freezing point of water to be defined as 32F and the boiling point to be defined as 212F. This brought the value to 98.6 degrees for a healthy human.

*I should note that the wiki conflicts with what I stated, saying that the healthy human temperature was 90 or 96 degrees. Checking the wiki source, the author states that his sources conflict and "...are full of errors." However, livescience relays that 100F was when Fahrenheit believe a man would succumb to heat stroke. http://www.livescience.com/39916-fahrenheit.html
The value of 100 may not have actually been defined, making the system simply defined as 0 for the freezing point of his solution, and deviations defined by Romer's graduations multiplied by 4.

I think you mean "Calories" and not "calories." Calorie=kilocalorie, and is used food as calories are too small. BTW, calorie is metric. 1 calorie is required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree C, at 1 atm.

Why don't metric people use Kelvin? What sense does it make to have negative temperatures? Why not start with absolute zero?

All of these systems are arbitrary. There's nothing wrong with Fahrenheit, and it feels very natural when you grow up with it.

Nowadays, there are significantly less systems of measurement used. There are only three main systems of measure for size, distance, and volume used today, these being Metric, imperial, and Customary. The majority of the world uses the Metric system, while the U.S. and Liberia use Customary. The Imperial system is used mainly in common situations and by Myanmar.
My question for you, NationStates, is what if your preferred System of measurement, and why? Which do you use in your daily life, or do you use multiple? Which system is superior? Should there be separate systems for common life and science?
I personally prefer the Customary system, mainly because I grew up with it, and am more smilie with it. I recognize that the Metric system is better for science, but I think the Customary system is easier for common situations. I think that the Metric and Customary systems are each better in their own area, but as I run into situations where the Customary is superior more, I support it.

Actually the fact that 190 countries on 193 uses the metric system as their official measurement system speaks for itself.

Socks with sandals are comfortable and I always hated the 'if all the other x jumped off a beidge would you?' question because the answer is simple; yes, yes I would! If all the other reasonably sane countries were on a bridge and began jumping off then it stands to good reason that something unbeknownst and horrible is about to happen to or on said bridge... count me among the mofo's that are will be GTFO.
