Hello everyone. I actually got told that I've got high functioning autism just over a week ago. Now I've just got to wait for the formal testing so they can officially say I've got it. I now feel incredibly awkward with how I've typed this out. I think I'll just stop typing now.

I find, and I direct this at no one in particular, that there seem to be more people with "autism" on the internet than seems realistic, considering the actual rates of Autism. Indeed, among some people, self-diagnosing as Autistic seems to be done either as a way of identifying oneself as a special snowflake or a way of excusing bad behavior. I'm not accusing anyone in this thread of doing this, though I don't doubt that there are bound to be a few fakers popping up before this is through. I just thought I'd note it.

As for myself, I am not diagnosed with any sort of Autistic disorder, though my wife likes to joke that I have some manner of high functioning Autism because of my GAD and other peculiarities in my psychology and personality.

Me, I like having Asperger's. I think it's a blessing. I am annoyed, however, that nobody can make up their mind as to whether or not it has an apostrophe. Argh.

But I love how I can compare myself to Vulcans. Do I love cold logic? Yes, and I use it a lot. Can I seem emotionless? Absolutely. Do I actually have really powerful emotions that I'm keeping hidden? Yes.

It's like 'Spock has nothing on me' Syndrome.

Also, am I the only one who thinks that neurotypicals are severely flawed and that the world would be a better place if everyone was an Aspie?

Did I self-diagnose myself? No.

Was I diagnosed by several qualified psychologists? Yes.

I even wrote a speech about it, actually.

If... anyone wants to read it I can post it.

And then there's the fun of looking at fictional characters to see if they had it. Did Sherlock Holmes? Probably. Did the Eleventh Doctor? ...yeah, probably he did too.(I have several friends who agree with me on that, and they've had the chance to look at me and compare)

It's possible, though not provable at the moment. It's a definite possibility, though it's also at the same chance he might not have, the same way he might not have died from Syphilis.

However the chances of Syphilis are more bigger than that of Asperger's syndrome

No. I've never been able to stand the company of other autistic people. Ironically enough I find their quirks and social awkwardness annoying, which is probably what many people think of me. Not that I'm not comfortable with the way I am, or that I don't think all autistic people have the right to be; it takes all sorts to make up the world.
